ok first ill tell you what problems im having. im having problems converting video files so I can stream them from my pc to my 360. I have done WMV, but its choppy as crap and looks like crap. Is there any program I can use to convert video files to stream from my pc to my 360? what formats does the 360 support? im really new to this sorry for being such a newb about this. how do I do HD quality video formats? any help would be appreciated.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

I use Tversity.  It transcodes all the video that the 360 can't natively process on the fly and can handle upscaling etc.  It also streams audio so I can use all the stuff on my media centre as in game soundtracks.  And its free.
