Alleluia Swapped Wd1600bevs-22ust0 With Wd2500bevs-00usto
« on: November 15, 2008, 12:00:00 PM »

FINALLY, I can move on to the next step.

My SATA controller is the VIA VT6421A. The first drive I tried was a WD1600BEVS-22UST0 with a manufactured date of September 2008. It did not matter what I tried, I could not  get it to flash. I kept getting "FATAL ERROR: the EC sector count was not found in the FW". I posted messages asking for help with the meaning of this error but no one in this forum provided an answer.''

I returned the drive to the store and noticed they had the WD2500BEVS-00UST0 with a manufactured date of February 2008. Thinking that maybe the newer drive had a newer firmware, I decided to take the plunge and get the 250gig drive. BTW, it was $5.00 cheaper. Brought it home and it flashed on the first attempt.

Hope this helps anyone out there.
