Help With Xbox Backup Creator Please!
« on: September 28, 2008, 08:13:00 PM »

Hi, I have a SH-D162D purchased from ebay

(link: )

When I insert a previously backed up game into the drive, it reads it fine and is able to back it up using XBC.   When I put an original in the drive (so far attempted with Battlefield Bad Company and Baja: Edge of Control) it recognizes the disc and the drive, but under the "Read" tab, the start button stays greyed out.  Does anyone know what is going on here and if there is any way to correct this problem?  I have all ready uninstalled and reinstalled XBC, but no luck...

Thanks

Are you using the Latest Version? I use XBC and have my own little routine I follow.
1. Go to options and make sure the correct drive is selected on the left hand side (and read speed)
2. Go to Drive Tools and unlock drive.
3. Once it unlocks you should be able to open up the Read tab and, click complete backup and then the Start button should be accessible.

Not sure if that helps but its what I do, let me know how it goes

When I click unlock drive, it says the drive is all ready unlocked, and the start is still greyed out...could it be these two games?  or is there something else at work here?

This is what it says in my read window

Pulled the DVD drive from the external case and it was set to master, I pulled the DVD drive from my computer, and left the DVD writer in.  The drive was set to master, so I set it to slave, and also put it internally.  I don't know which of the two actions allowed it to read discs, but that method fixed it for me...
