Xbmc Can't See Entire Network
« on: February 11, 2005, 12:12:00 AM »

I am moving from basic xbmc to more advanced stuff, and I am stuck.

I have multiple PC's with files on my network ("workgroup")

I can only see the one in which I entered in the xml file, I know this is where the problem lies, but whenever I enter the routers IP, I get "access denied".

can anyone point me to a guide or give me advice to see everything shared on the entire network, even if spanned across many PC's?  I tried searching, and I can't find much.

also, is there a guide for really customizing the xbmc dash?  I hate seeing all the options  that I don't use, but when I deleted them from the xml, i got errors.

thanks much!!

forgot to add all the specs....

all PC's running XP pro SP2 with firewall turned on, but all shared drives opened up.

router is a dlink 707P, and everything look OK there.

I tested the network by putting one PC's IP in one bookmark, and another IP in another bookmark, and XBMC saw both then, but it is not what I am looking for, I want to be able to go into SMB whatever, and see all shared drives.

OH, I am using the latest XBMC using SMB

thanks again

i can confirm this bug.

the alternative is to bookmark each pc on the network individually, or bookmark the one's you want to access.

i hope for a fix for this one.

It works like a charm för me using xbmc 1.1
just put workgroupname in the workgroup tag and it'll find every computer you have.
