Wired Streaming To 360

I have a vista laptop that I like to stream media from to my 360. When connected wirelessly to my network, the 360 will stream all of my media just fine. When i connect the laptop to my router using an ethernet cable, the 360 still says its connected and will display all of the media i am sharing. When I try to play any media, however, i get one error or another and nothing will play. I am assuming this has something to do with my router (Netgear WGR614v5) but i have no idea how to fix it.
