Maximus released 360 Firmware Toolbox(info) v4.6 - a graphical tool to handle several common dvd-drive firmware tasks. iXtreme v1.4 is added including for Hitachi-LG v78 and v79 (only with passkey for now) drives.

Its been saying that in the NFO of the toolbox for ages, as Maximus is making money off the passkeys I cannot forsee that ever happening unless someone else figures a way to do it.

So... by what you people are saying there won't be an 'easy' way to flash the 79 drive in the near future?

And why do you believe this when the info says otherwise? Or am I totally not understanding the topic at hand here?

My Elite is collecting dust while my Premium is collecting heat from spinning those DL's. I hope a non solder/non passkey solution comes soon. This is suspensful as a thriller novel, lol.

That would be perfect since nobody would have to buy any extra hardware to flash the 79.

What's the proper procedure for flashing Hitachi drives that are already modded? I have a 78k with 1.2 that needs to be flashed, do I write the was.bin back to it, then apply the ixtreme 1.4, or can I go straight to ixtreme 1.4?

I mostly work on Samsungs, so I want to be sure doing the 78k.

You will need to restore to stock, then flash with 1.4.
