i don't know anything about Linux, but in windows it doesn't work without .Net Framework 2, so maybe you need to install it on WINE?  unsure.gif

just trying to help, so don't pick on me  ohmy.gif

With a .net application you will need mono.
CODE
sudo apt-get install mono

to run you would initiate the command
CODE
mono xdvdxmulleter.exe

For a fully functional .NET framework, you will have to use *gulp* Windows.
Until linux becomes mainstream for desktops (be very patient), I recommend you dual-boot Windows + Ubuntu.

If you're going to buy into Microsoft's excellent games console, you'd might as well buy into their excellent OS (lmao)

Seriously though, i'm sure you can get hold of a copy of XP, or have a friend/family with a computer running windows. It's time consuming enough for ppl to write software for Windows (90%+ of users), yet alone create versions for the minority using mac, linux, etc.

It'd be cool to see some linux-only software though, might give some users the push they need to install it + see what a viable alternative it is!

Thx for the respond. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Yesterday, I joined #360stealth on efnet and asked for support. Unfortunately there is actually no posibilty to run XDVDMulleter under a Linux-Enviroment.

I was hoping for a solution which would allow me to check an iso under Linux and kill the windows-partition.

It's the old chicken and egg story, people will use what the developers are developing for, and the developers will develop for what the people are using. I don't see windows disappearing anytime soon, linux needs a campaign that will reach EVERY windows user, to convince them to ditch it (which is impossible.)
People will blindly keep upgrading the same product, for the sake of convenience.
Micrsoft has the money to promote it's products above competitors, sign the best business deals, and to do the market research needed to give the typical user what they expect from an OS.

It's interesting that this particular app was written in Microsoft Visual Studio, compiled for Microsoft .NET, to run under Microsoft Windows, for usage with a Microsoft Xbox 360. Is this sad? or maybe it is a good thing, I admire Microsoft's huge influence in the industry, but we are promoting Microsoft's market dominace.

Why are so many people ditching their cross-platform tools, and just using whatever MS puts on their plate (.net)?
Microsoft advertises it as an "Integration" solution, but really, by integration they mean "Microsoft". Pay to code in a "Microsoft" programming language, use the "Microsoft" framework, which is locked down to the "Microsoft" OS.

It'd be cool to see more tools written in cross-platform, interpreted languages such as python & perl, which run pretty fast on today's cpus, using frameworks such as wxwidgets and Qt. Then this closed-source, microsoft-locked, "you've got to pay Microsoft Corporation to run my app" situation could be done away with!

Even better: run XP using VMWare in your Linux environment biggrin.gif

that's painfully slow though on my mediocre pc hardware  tongue.gif
I personally prefer running linux under windows, as the overall performance is better.
but then all security benefits go out the window  biggrin.gif
