sorry for the double post, i managed to register and downloaded the file and it seems to work now, havnt tested out the program yet

on your post link removed still links to 1.0.1.4

and also, after i open the program, it says 'An update is available, would i like to the application now', so i click yes, it downloads and when it opens, it is version 1.0.1.4, so it actually downgraded

and i can also now open 1.0.1.4 after using 1.0.1.5

everyone else can grab 1.0.1.5 link removed for now

Mod Edit: Links removed per request from user.

Thanks you for help.

Yes the downgrade is a bug of visual studio, because there are no change on the software. Only the assembly has change to perform without missing file.

At the next real version, the bug will go to the pub for a coffee alone ;-)

Concerning the link to the 1.0.1.4, I've put on the topic the two links. So for users without problem, they can use directly the 1.0.1.4, and for others use the 1.0.1.5.

I repeat, only the assembly changes. the software is the same.

Thank you very much to report.

I hope this isn't some sort of spyware - couldn't install it myself!

If you are always unable to install it, take the .exe.deploy file in the version folder, and rename it as 360DriveSwitcher.exe. And run the application alone.

This worked for me

Thanks.

Can either this or Firmware Toolbox spoof a BenQ drive?

The spoof line isn't fully imported in the ixtreme firmware. That can result in an error66 or error65. To void any errors, if you're spoofing a drive (either using this software of Firmware Tool Box), do it AFTER the iXtreme patch.

When using samtool to spoof iXtreme samsung firmware based off of hitachi originals, the version string is truncated.  It does so to match c4e's strings in the Xtreme v5.3 package that includes all the spoofed firmwares.

Have you checked how much of the string is sent when the inquiry command is issued?  I'm pretty sure thats why c4e truncated them.

Also, found a few issuse/bugs.

When using a benq or a samsung original to patch a hitachi firmware v46-59, it doesnt inject the key.  It finds the key in the originals, finds the key location in the 'hacked' firmware, says it has copied but it doesnt actually change the value.  With v78-79 hitachi firmware, it does work properly.

When trying to use iXtreme samsung firmware bins as the hacked firmware, it states this when clicking generate fw: "index was outside the bounds of the array".

Also, when using samsung or hitachi originals to patch benq firmware, you need to check the drive serial.  The benq iXtreme firmware will have that section 'FF'd out from the original, so it'll need to have an original benq source first, patch the serial, then inject your information.  Or, you could check the serial to see if it contains a certain string that is common to all benq fw's and if not present, state that the serial is not valid.

so maybe this could help me out then?
my old xbox DVD drive is Poop wont load any game. think the lazer is dead!
so with this can i just buy a new DVD drive of the bay, then flash it and stick it in to make my old xbox360 work?

or is it easier to buy the lazer on the bay & just replace it without a flash?

The issue with the iXtreme samsung firmware is that it doesnt have a key in it.  Your app must be searching the key section array for the key location, but doesnt find it.  You can easily fix this by finding the last key place holder and make sure that the key structure itself conforms to Samsung firmware.  Then just inject the key.

TheRat - you have always been able to create the firmware you need to replace your drive, assuming you have your original information.  There are several other apps out there that can do this as well.  It may be just as cheap to buy a new laser but if you arn't sure, it may not be.

You can simply buy a new drive off ebay and move the circuit board from the bad-dvd-rom onto the new dvd-rom and be done with it and use it without having to flash anything at all.

Just make sure you buy the same brand of drive as the broken one FW verison of the drive wont matter cause you are swapping the board's from ther junk drive to the new drive.

Hey guys,

i want to switch my samsung with an Hitachi,
my question now is if there will be any problems with Xbox Live after a switch?
Since i have heard that MS bans people for making theyre own 120 GB HDD.

Can anyone confirm me that i can do such switch without any problems?
