Error with iPrep 101 and/or XBM
« on: August 02, 2007, 09:57:00 PM »

Hi, I'm sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I'm having an issue with iPrep 101 and/or xtremeBootMaker 5.3.
Both of those are the newest versions with the newest definitions and everything, my problem is that when I go down to the SATA device list, there's nothing there, so I hit "List SCSI Devices" and my SATA chipset comes up, followed by an error. It doesn't fill in the Device ID or IO boxes, and the error says something about an unhandled exception and attempting to read or write protected memory.  I have a 360 with a MS28 drive, and an HP P3 on Windows 98 with the most recommended SATA chipset, the VIA VT6421 or whatever and it's SATA connected to a Blaster360 I installed. Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Yes, it does, and I successfully installed the .Net Framework V2 and I can open iPrep and XBM.

Have you updated the new iPrep definitions file. That could be your problem, not sure tho.

Yes, I have the latest definitions, and iPrep will open the iXtreme 1.2c firmware rar, it's the SATA card's Device ID and I/O that it's having an issue with. I retooled some drivers and stuff, and tried XBM again and it gave me an overflow error when I tried to select my Sata card....

problem with the application giving an error, mover to Software section, more chance that Klutsh sees it there.

:UPDATE:
I've upgraded the machine from 98 to XP, and some things seem to have gone a little smoother, including access to a USB Flash Drive. The problem now is essentially the same as originally, this time in iPrep, when I hit List and pick the VIA VT6241 sata chip from the pulldown menu, text saying "MTKFlash cannot be used with this device" or something like that appears above the Device ID, I/O boxes, even though this card has been proven to work. I have already installed the latest drivers on two separate attempts, but in Device Manager, the Sata card has an exclamation point next to it and it gives me [error code 10: the device cannot start].  I'm going to try to fix it by messing with the drivers some more, but I hope that this information can help in diagnosing my problem/solution.

Finally seen this  ohmy.gif

Ok, Your problems with Win98 is that it stores it's device info different from XP/2000/Vista, hence it does not work.

RE, you new problem, download these drivers from www.viaarena.com

They should fix the missing info.

Thanks for the support, I got it working. Unfortunately I had already been to ViaArena and downloaded those drivers, but my problem ended up being that my Xbox wasn't on, cus my friend was playing the Xbox while I was trying to fix it and it worked. Thanks again.
