I am guessing to take advantage on this mod  you need to update to the newest dashboard?  I hooked up a newly hacked one to an elite and it shows up as 120gig but when i hook it up to a non elite, it says the drive is unformatted.  Im guessing its because it doesnt have the newest dashboard?

Got my WD120 BEV LAT, followed the instruction using my XBOX360 20GB HD to dump the bin file, and use the bin to flash my new WD120.  Installed and re-formated the new WD120 on the XBOX360, and it shows only 13GB free.
What did I miss?  If only 20GB is expected on the WD120, what is the purpose of upgrading to a bigger drive if you only can access 20GB?
Any clarification needed.
Thanks
Hackman.

To get the 120 gb, you should use a hddss.bin file from a 120 gb HDD.

Thanks for the info.

What is the use of buying a WD120 if I have to get the hddss.bin from an original M$ 120GB HD?  Rather buy the original M$ HD.
Meanwhile, will just undo my WD120, and use it on my PS3 instead.

Yes, you've inputted the wrong console serial number (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Anyway, I've just finished up a new version of the hddhackr (v0.91), it now supports the RST version of the WD BEVS too, should be on the site tomorrow

I assure you i have the coreect console number...what im going to do is do an undo and try it again.

What doesnt make sense is the first time I tired to format it it was doing its thing and it completed. but when I went in to look at the storage it said unformatted....i thought hmm

so I powered off the console and powered it back on...same results. I tried again and now it just gives me a dash error that says some thing along the lines of a problem has occured (typical m$ uninformative error) the serial number error is a different error.

What do you think?

The x360 obviously accepts your drive (otherwise it won't give you the possibility to format it), so the hddhackr procedure worked fine. But there's some problem with your partition info.

You might try to undo the flash again (with the undo.bin file), format the drive on the PC with a low level formatting util and then flash the drive again and see if you can format it then...

Not sure why you're having problems, it's the first time I hear of this problem. One thing that COULD cause it for example is a faulty drive with bad sectors. You could check that with a verification tool on the PC.

First I like to say this is some great info about the HD upgrade. smile.gif
Is it possible to use a 120 samsung drive that is closer to the 20 gig already in the system?
I know that the 20 gig is a HM020GI but what is inside the 120 gig and elite upgraded drive is a WD or another samsung drive?
Would this hack allow me to copy my 20 gig to a 120. Also after the hack can I clone the drives with all the content with either ghost or HD copy software?
I take microsoft or samsung generates and copy these bin files before they leave the factory.
What if I copy the sectors from the 20 gig samsung and copy them to a 120 gig samsung would that possibly work or was this not tested yet. I up for it. wink.gif

Can anybody answer my questions if the TheSpecialist is not available.

Thanks again.

Don't anyone has any hdds of one 120gb to upload it so all the others don't lose a lot of time to make one 120gb western digital scorpio work on a xbox360.

Hi,

Will the drive still work in windows at its full capacity after its been hacked? Do i need to undo the hack before it can be used for other purpose?

Thanks!

Dear TheSpecialist,

Thank you very very much for the wonderful work. I'm sure you've helped millions of people from their nightmares.

Now, this is possibly too much to ask from you, but, I'm wondering if its possible to do the same for Desktop HDDs by WD?
I'll be very grateful if you could do some modification on your tool to work with desktop hdd series. What would it cost for you to develop it?
I'm asking this because 3.5" hdds are more reliable, faster access time, and most importantly - cheaper. Notebook hdds are almost double price compared to desktop hdd.

Thank you very much once again.
Tim.
