I attempted to take my saves and other content from my 20gb and use xplorer360 to transfer it all over and it came over and made the drive corrupted.  The HDD comes with a disk and cable to transfer the data.  maybe there is more that can be done but too early to tell.

Just to end any possible trouble before it starts, do NOT ask where to find the "hddss.bin" file here. It contains copyrighted material, and as such is not allowed here.

Anyone asking for the hddss.bin file or posting links/information on where to get the file will be BANNED. This is your first and FINAL warning. This thread will be hard moderated and closely watched. Keep it clean guys!

Okay what can you actually put on this 120 gig hard drive? can I throw my games on the hard drive so I dont have to fetch for the DVD's.  Can I load my HD-DVD or WMV-HD files on it?

Many thanks to the TheSpecialist.

Personally I think MS would be stupid to ban people for increasing their storage via this method. It's not like anything malicious is taking place. People are going to use this hack to store more free & paid content on their existing box.

thank you specialist, I've been yearning for this release, thank you

BTW** Can you tell if its a LAT or RST by looking at the box? Or do you take the risk when you buy it since its only labeled on the actual HD?

Okay, here's a question.

Is the Security Sector on the 120GB Elite HDD the same for all drives, or does each drive have a unique SS?

All are different.

I love the Fujitsu Siemens Support!

They sent the WD1200BEVS-07LAT0 as a replacement drive to me  love.gif

Now, i'll only have to get my fingers on such a "elite hdd"

Thank you Specialist.

Can this be used to install Linux with the King Kong exploit? And will the harddrive be limited to 120gb when you  format it to ext?

The latest news on this prior to the 120 Gb version I believe, was that a cloned HDD SS on Xbox-Live would get banned (original and any clones).  So unless you want to fill the 120 Gb with locally obtained material and keep it off Live, then I fail to see the buzz here.  It's not like anybody is going to publically give away their SS - if they do then it'll be banned within hours...

The SS is COPYRIGHT because it contains a PNG of the Microsoft logo - MS were very clever here - copy it and you are copying a 'copyright' not just a series of 1's and 0's ... sad.gif

if you truly get banned from live because the HDDsignature is not unique then that's a big bummer...

maybe 360's have not been banned as of yet, but maybe this app will get 360's banned, because of the noobusers who think they can safely upgrade...

so basically if someone dumped the 120GB signature of his harddrive, he and everyone else who uses it get banned? THX 4 SHARING!!! +P

wouldn't it be easy for those who do want to get on Xboxlive, that this app can copy the unique signature from the 20GB > 120GB ?

so those with an original 20GB, can upgrade to 120GB without getting banned.

You can copy the 20Gb Sig, but then your 120Gb turns into a 20Gb HDD - ie not a lot of use ...  grr.gif
