TheSpecialist's HDDHackr v0.90 - Adds Support for 120GB Drives!

OK so I've read through this entire thread.  Is the only purpose of doing this mod to make a copy of your hard drive using a third party hard drive?  I really don't see the benefit in buying a 120GB HDD, copying over all the files, only to be able to use 20GB of storage space anyways since that's what I have now.

Am I wrong?  Is it possible to use all 120GB of space if I have a 20GB HDD now?  I don't plan on having 120GB worth of DLC, but now with the "Install to Hard Drive" option in the NXE, I would like to load my games to the HDD to decrease as much load time as possible.

The 120GB drive would be flashed with the security file hddss.bin from a 120Gb drive to make use of the full 120gb.

Are you sure you read the whole thread? its mentioned on this page and many more times on previous ones (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Yes, I know that.  So pretty much this is a useless mod that saves you zero dollars becuase you'd be buying another 120GB HDD, which you would already have to have, just to copy over your files?  It's pointless for people with 20GB HDDs to try doing becuase you won't be able to use more than 20GB anyways in the end.

More simply put, I was basically asking if there was any benefit in doing a 120GB upgrade mod for people who already have 20GB HDDs.

Yes because you don't have to buy a genuine 120GB hdd, the hddss.bin file is available for download if you look about.

Thanks for clearing that up.  So once I finish flashing the HDD and it works.  Do I just do a regular HDD data transfer via myxboxlive on the xbox.com website?  Or is it a simple drag and drop from the old HDD to the new one?

Also has there been any word on people getting banned from XBL by doing this?

Depending on what you have I think you could use a MU to copy over your saves and recover your gamertag on XBL

I used xplorer360 extreme with the sata connectivity kit, backup partition 2 and copy paste over your files from partition 3 onto your computer from the 20gb. when the 120gb is flashed, restore partition 2 and copy back the files you took from partition 3 back into partition 3. you will have problems  copying over a 0kb st.db file. just make it in notepad with the same filename. I can't remember what folder it is in offhand but you will know when you get an error, look deeper into the folders andd you will find the st.db file, then make the folders leading to that file, folder by folder.

I have no idea on the banning of modified hard drives, sorry.

Hi; I've got a problem, maybe someone here can help. I got hddhackr 0.91and wanted to try dumping the thing from my original 20GB 360 drive. I disconnected my computer's HDD and disk drive, checked to make sure the 360 drive showed up in the bios (it does, as a 20GB HDD like it should) and booted into dos using a usb flash drive. I ran hddhackr -d, and it ran, looked for the drives normally, said it couldn't find any and tried legacy mode, then gave me the menu to press 1-4 to select a drive. Every number said "Invalid input". Does the hddhacker app only work for certain sata chipsets, or did I miss some basic step in setting the whole thing up?

Well I highly doubt MS will ever ban for this, highly! Why? Because this or their own hack became available in China and Ebay is FULL of cloned 120GB drives. Now what does this mean you ask? It means that there will be a lot of parents and college students buying these at $80. Is it their fault that it's not authentic? No Can they take this drive to a friend's house and get the friend banned as well if MS started doing this? Yes

So that would bring SO much heat for MS it's unrealistic. This is unlike the firmware hack, that is. Because you can't buy the hack off of Ebay, MS knows this, you can't "accidentally" take it to your friend's console. They know it's something you do on purpose, a limited amount of people, they know there won't be accidents with people "accidentally" installing it or buying it on Ebay, like with the drive.

If they started banning for fake hds, they'd have to ban for fake controllers from Ebay, too. They'll never do it.
