Xblfriends - The Xbox Live Messenger
« on: April 16, 2007, 07:50:00 AM »

Hello all,

I would like to present a free software to all players of the Xbox Live : XBLFriends

It works on Win98 to Windows Vista with the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (must be installed before XBLFriends)

You can :
  • Send and read Xbox Live messages with smileys
  • Manage your friend's list (add, delete, ...)
  • See GamerCards, ScoreCharts, ...
  • See and ear a notification when a friend is connected
  • And more...

Screenshot of the main program :

Screenshot of the message center :

Download it for free (registration required) at http://www.xblfriends.com

Well, I looked at it but as near as I can tell they are expecting me to Wine the app to run it under Linux. Anyone try this yet?

Can you set it such that friends appear by a defined category?
Friend from Clan VVV
Friend from XBox-Scene
Friend from work

or will they only display by game played

It is obviously not an info available from live, I imagine ti would require to be entered.

rgds, soso

There is a .NET Framework to Linux : Mono
But not all functions of the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 are implemented in the Linux Framework!
They hard work to implement all the functions, try it !  wink.gif

You're right, it's not an info from live.
But it's not impossible!  wink.gif
There is 2 solutions :
- Get the info in a field from Live, there is the field Motto (Your motto is a verbal representation of who you are on Xbox.com and Xbox Live.)
- Enter the info for each GamerTag

So, actually there is only 2 categories :
- By status
- By game

Why not by other category...  wink.gif

I like this app besides two things:

It refreshes its self about 4-5-6 times in about 10 seconds
When you hover over your gamercard, the refresh issue above comes around

Minor errors:
"Notifify this groups" (I assume you were typing really fast. I do this all the time lol)
"Choose the ordre of the groups"
"Ear the notify sound"

I just mean i haven't tryed much with it. As I'm always on my 360 i just see the info there. I'll use it on my laptop for when i'm away from home and such.

And is there anyway to make it just log in silently.(Like msn) Instead of me having to click yes to a security issue and stuff?

The security issue is only when you log on your windows live account (msn passport) for the first time!
XBLfriends starts with windows and do not ask me to click yes!

Perhaps if you use multiple windows live accounts the security issue can appear!
