Transcode 360 Resolution Threshold Option?
« on: March 05, 2007, 10:51:00 AM »

Ok so I am sort of new at all this but so far everthing works great, this is a great piece of software, I can finally get rid of my old xbox with XBMC. Here is my question... what does the "resolution threshold after which footage is downsampled" option actually do? I can succesfully stream 720p .mkv files to my x360 (after updating to newer mencoder.exe), but I believe that the stream isn't actually 720p, or am I wrong? I changed resolution threshold option previously mentioned to 921600 (1280x720), and I'm really just guessing here, but I can't really tell if this makes a difference while watching through my 720p lcd tv. Is current mainstream hardware actually able to decode hd files faster than real time? I only ask because when I have tried converting hd xvid files to wmv before it takes forever, although I suspect transode 360 actually converts to mpeg2 (like I said I'm new at all this so I don't really know how it works yet). Also, after I change the resolution threshold option to 921600 from the default 307200 (640x480 I guess) it seems to randomly change back after a while, perhaps when I restart my pc, not really sure. Maybe one of you more experienced guys could help clarify this for me please.
