Hi, I've gone right over the old thread and can't seem to find a guide to how to run this on Vista.

I've got Vista Home Premium and it installs but wont run. Someone mentioned that you have to be logged in as "THE LOCAL ADMIN" to install. But I cant seem to figure out how to do that. Googled it and tried as suggested but it doesn't work. Could someone please go over instructions on how to do this and install on Vista Home Premium.

I've tried this new version as well. Will install but wont run. sad.gif

Its the 'mscomclt.ocx'  error.      Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Shane

means that it doesnt read/copy every sector on the dvd only the sectors referenced by the file system
not exactly, to read original xbox dvd's you need to be using a modified firmware

Sorry Redline99, I appreciate your efforts on this great utility.  However, could you explain a little more about the above statement?  Has your program ever read/copy every sector?  Is it needed?  Or am I a neb that should just be quiet.

Thank you!

To clarify on his behalf (save taking him away from coding) smile.gif Originally he(xbc) was ripping the entire data partition on xbox 1 games, whereas now it just rips the files (by default). On xbox 1, theres no extra data outside the filesystem, so it works fine, and is generally much quicker as very few games fill up the data partition to any extent at all.

Hopefully one day we will work out file based copying on 360 ISOs too, but not just yet, because theres mysterious hidden bits not referenced by the filesystem.

Id note though, you can rip Xbox 1 games without a modified drive if you are making a rip for single layer xtreme 5 firmware, just by hotswapping (because those isos have no embedded stealth or security sectors).

So it does not make 1:1 ISOs of Xbox 1 games
but it does make 1:1 ISOs of Xbox 360 games

Exactly, what badsheepy said. Thanks!

me7 - correct

For vista I would always use the installer, it seems to help.  I have not tried all combinations of installing on vista with different account privileges and all, but the last test I did on a Vista laptop running Home Premium, it installed and worked just fine. No extra tricks to get running.  But of course this probably isn't the case with every vista machine.

hey, i have read all of the posts and so on, however, I downloaded xbc 2.4 but for nba street homecourt it still gives me the same problems as the earlier version of xbc, whereby i get Unknown Partition size. Used bytes = 5.32 MB.  Thus, I am wondering what the issue is, and is this problem fixable?

hey redline99 thanks for the mad quick reply, unfortunately im at work right now, so I do not have access to the log, so curious to see if anyone else is having similar problems, but again, basically 2.4 read as 2.3 but sometimes if the game was in the drive b4 i loaded the program, it would say unreadable (2.4 that is), so really no idea, but is version 2.4 capable of fixing this problem and hopefully any future ones as this appears to be a trend (ie maybe i just got unlucky with the game)?

I get this also I did get it on the previsous release.

Im running windows vista ultimate and have a SH-D162C.  I just go and hit unlock drive twice and it always seems to work fine after that (bumps back up to 6.81gigs).

try opening a fresh XBC and dont click anything and except complete backup and then start. mine didnt say 7.05 gigs at first but then said 6.99 gb left to read as it began dumping. havent burned yet but passed all stealth checks
