Can I Stream Avi Files To 360?

Im not sure if this is in the correct forum but here goes.  I want to stream AVI files off my computer to my 360.  But it seems that the 360 doesnt recognize them.  What type of video files does it recognize?  It would be cool to watch some HD content off my computer thru the 360.
