Xbox 360 Transcode Solution For Linux
« on: December 20, 2006, 10:21:00 PM »

I am looking for a transcoding solution for linux. I know that the WMV format and linux computers do not play well, but they do play. All of my fast computers run linux, and programs like Transcode360 require windows.
I am aware of VLC's ability to re-encode into WMV, so is it possible to set up an automatic system where if i try to play a video stored on my linux machine, and it is in xvid or the like, it will just re-encode and stream?

I am suprised that the linux community has not solved this problem. Or have they already and my searches just did not show them.

Remember, i am looking for a real transcoding solution, not just a re-encode-my-500GB+-movie-database-into-WMV

thanks!
