Had the same problem on my rig and have found a solution that works on my machine 100% everytime,i used to put the disk in first and then load the prog and would get the error all the time, now i load the prog first and then put the disk in and now all is well,i was trying all the virtual drive stuff and shutting down all my progs and the resetting the pc crap and after all that it was something as simple as this.
Hope it works for you guys, and could you post your results.

It's OK ive sussed it, you have to make an image first with the Xbox Backup Creator, and their u have the bin, with security sector in place, in the seperate BIN File that gets created with the prog.. The method with ejecting first then load up the disc once the prog loads, DOES NOT WORK WITH Schtrom360XtractV3.0, i still get an ERROR.. But at lest ive got the other PROG to fall back on... AND THANKS AGAIN FOR THIS INFO,,,marantz..  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

marantz - thanks for the info, I'll look it over.  The only thing is the code that executes at load time is the same code that executes later, for example switching from aspi to spti and such.  Interesting though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

just eject the disc VIA Xbox Backup Creator software in the DRIVE TOOLS TAB, put in the disc click on LOAD in the DRIVE TOOLS TAB on the program, wait till it loads then click on START in the READ TAB, and away it goes it starts to BACK UP the disc with SECURITY SECTOR in place. If you insert the disc and close the DVD-ROM TRAY BEFORE YOU LOAD THE SOFTWARE it will not pickup the SECURITY SECTOR on the disc for some reason, but if you follow what i just sayed you will have NO PROBLEMS backing up your ORIGINAL GAME..  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

JUST HOPE THEIR IS A FIX FOR THIS SOON, WERE YOU CAN PUT THE DISC IN WITHOUT USING THE SOFTWARE TO EJECT & LOAD IT FOR YOU.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

I tried this and I am still getting the same error...I have tried a few things, removing d-tools and other burning programs, but that does not seem to help. Any one have any other work arounds.
