I read a couple of post down and found my answers. One more quick question... if I want to make a copy of the Xbox games to play on my Xbox360... I use the Complete Backup... and then burn.. Do I have to do anything else?

Yup In a perfect world it's real easy smile.gif

Can I use my Hitachi 59DJ for ripping the game? Or it have to be a Sammy?

The Hitachi has always given problems seeing the game partition, I've heard of some people doing it, but I have not.  But I haven't had time to look at the latest Hitachi firmwares to test it out.

Where can I buy Sh-d162c?

Google.  You might want to look for the newest drive Kreon supports. The SH-D162C has proven to be a very finicky drive. I think the other may be easier to work with, atleast fewer issues reported.

This is, without a doubt, the coolest thing since sliced bread. I have the exact same setup mentioned a few pages ago, NEC 3550a with L&D Y6 firmware, sh-d162c, verbs...hell I even have my d162c running through a 24" IDE cable to a pci-ide add-in card! Reading and writing via xbc work fine. Only thing is, no matter what burn speed I pick, it always burns at 8x. While this is astonishingly quicker than I was previously burning, and I hadn't had any problems...well I spoke too soon. Playing Gears of War today, I twice got the pop-in-from-the-side "clean the disc" message with the little red X. Redline, do you need me to send you an NEC 3550a with liggy & dee on it? If you'll ship it back to me when you're done, I'll do it. Always good to have a spare... smile.gif

This is hands down the best xbox360 program there is.  2 clicks and you have a backed up disc.  Awesome!

Its definitely a breakthrough, but it still needs refinement. Redline, did you have no reply to my offer? Last night I started a Gears of War with ImgBurn at 2.4x. In the verify stage, it failed due to CIRC unrecoverable errors. Would this be a problem with that burn? Or maybe with the image I created using xbc?

I backed up my retail Gears of War last night using this software. No problems, I was using CloneCD though. Might re-try using Clone, as XBC has never failed me yet...AWESOME!

I find imgburn the best for the actual burning.

I have a Sammy 162c (kreon .81) and pio 111d and have no issues, except if I use xbox backup creator to burn the image then it hangs and I end up with a coaster.  For ripping XBC is awesome

Hi guys and sorry for the nob question - I have read the thread, but can't seem to find the answer I need.

I have a samsung drive, which is flashed with Kreon 8.0 - have tried to use Schtrom but get an error relating to having the inject the SS at a later date?? Anyway, stumbled across Redline's excellent program and ready to use as an alternative, but I can't seem to see any mention of what it will work with.  I have an nme-360 chip ready to install, but obviously I don't want to start increasing my collection of DL coasters without being clear on exactly what to do.

My games are getting more and more scratched, and my two year old likes 'helping' by taking them out of the 360 and handing them to me with sticky fingers!!  I need to know I can back everything up and keep them out of his reach!

Cheers in advance!

Well I assume you meant you have the Samsung sh-d162c flashed with Kreon v0.81 and not 8.0 smile.gif.

I would recommend using XBC 2.3 for sure, you literally need to press two buttons, one to rip and one to burn (if you plan on using XBC to burn as well).

So you don't have a flashed rom drive and plan to use a chip is what you are saying?  Any reason why in particular?  I Would recommend flashing the ROM drive instead IMHO.

Cheers for the response 328iGuy - I have 8.1 ready to flash my samsung SH-D162C - it is currently flashed with 8.0 at the moment.  Will change that when I get home tonight.

Yep, currently have a completely unmodded 360, and what I think is a clone nme360 chip, as it does not look like the pics on the site.   Was thinking that the chip would be better way to go because it allegedly 'sleeps' when not playing backups and does not affect your on-line presence - not that I play on line, but you never know what the future holds! ;o)  Why would you choose flashing over a chip?

Do I need any special equipment to flash the drive, am I looking at getting hold of the Xecuter connectivity kit or is it something I can do now?

Cheers!

The firmware versions ar actually 0.80 and 0.81, not 8.0 for the record. smile.gif

There are many FAQ's and threads on here with regards to flashing as opposed to mod chips etc... just do a search, I Wouldn't want to give you any incorrect information.  I play online on a daily basis with the flashed drive and love it.  No complaints.

Redline, while making DOA Xtreme 2, I noticed a little message about the layer 1 shift (not that but something like that) being unexpectedly off, I compared the lba's and it was off by 4. I believe I saw this in imgburn. I'm not trying to blame anyone, I just want to point it out. It really does suck to not know which burning option to choose. These are expensive coasters. Thanks as always though, let me know if there's anything more I can do to contribute. By the way, I made this new name recently so I'm not a noob.
