Redline99 Your app is 'the dogs'....great app works a treat....though certain parts are patchy for me...could you make a tutorial to go with it that describes all the options that are in the app.

spe411 - That LBA is around the laybreak area.  Have you tried the suggestion by sosotiit? It sounds like a good one to me.   I don't have any other good suggestions other than to use a TS-H943A (Xbox samsung drive) What firmware version of the SH-D162C are you using? Make sure it is the latest.

Guys-

An FYI, do NOT use Memorex media. I have burned 3 coasters so far even though they say they were sucessful. Verbatim works every single time without error. When you try to use Memorex, the Xbox doesn't even see the disc.

Memorex works for me most of the time... but sometimes they have real bad media errors when the burner switches layers.  Usually for me though if I get past the layerbreak then they work pretty good. Verbs are probably a safer bet.

I tried all of sosotiit's suggstions....trying to get the SH-D162C to read the disk.  But no matter what I tried, I'd get those bad sector errors at around 49.40%

So tonight I tried the TS-H943A.  Things started good as usual, disk was reading at around 3,000 kB/s up until the 49% mark.  Then the rip dropped to crawling speed at 60 kB/s and I was just waiting for the errors.....but they never came.  It took about 10 minutes to read the disk from the 49% mark to the 51% mark.  Then the speed shot back up to normal 3,000 kB/s and it ripped the rest fine.  ??????

I do have the latest Kreon firmware on the SH-D162C.  Has there been other reports of the TS-H943A drive reading better than the SD-D162C?  This disk is not in bad condition.  There's a few minor scratches, but nothing that should keep it from ripping.  Anyway, just thought I should let you guys know how things turned out.

Spe411 a huge thanks for you help in this, it confirms many things for me.

Many of the problems we sometimes have a difficulty to diagnose may come from some DVD being marginal.

We also have to be realistic that the SH-D162C is a drive adapted for the situation, it is not a true X360 Drive.
There are SH-D162C unit that will be more or less performant like there are X360 drive that requires pot recalibration!!!

Anyway, an extract from a previous post I made tonight on problems extracting SS or the game partition with the SH-D162C (which we must realize are very few):

QUOTE
Hope it helps for you,
In fact there are no clear causes that would allow us to say "this is cause to this behavior and to solve it do that". All the above are contributing factors which once cleared will maximize your chances of success.

There seems to be isolated cases with the SH-D162C (with Kreon 0.81) that will not work for the ss.bin or the game.iso. Often these would happen to people that have successfully made backups of many of their games before and that using the same setup!!! while other people with the same tools and hardware would easily do the backup of the same game. Very few of these, but they happen.

It seems to have little to do with XBCreator since extraction using other softwares would generally not work either.

If it really does not work you are left with opening you x360 to do the following:
Samsung owner: connect your X360 drive to your PC and use Xbcreator (or other method) for that game.
Hitachi owner having problem extracting the SS: connect your X360 drive to your PC and use Xbcreator (or other method) for the SS; Use xbcreator with your sh-D162C to extract the rest and merge (xbcreator or ssmerger)
Hitachi owner having a problem extracting game.iso: Use wxripper method with a PC drive for the game.iso; then use your SH-D162C to extract the SS and merge (ssmerger).

and you have a backup (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

huge thks to everyone, and rgds, soso

braddman - put an xbox 1 disk in and then select the drive with that disk. It should allow you to change then?

OK that worked, but the backup did not. I was trying to backup Forza Motorsports (Xbox 1). When I tried it without sector mapper, it would say READ ERROR and ask me if I wanted to zero fill the sectors. Instead of doing this, I used SECTOR MAPPER and it made the ISO fine. I burned with IMGBURN to a memorex DL and now after the intro screen I get an error that says "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DISC-IT MAY BE DAMAGED OR DIRTY".

Did I make this backup correctly?

Propably bad media... I had the same problem when I burned a game. It was stacking and throw the dirty error message. I checked for readability on pc and I found out that it couldn't read some sectors. I tried a second time the exact same brand with the same iso and worked like charm. I also checked it for readability and no problems found. From then all my backups are written with imgBurn (highly recommend it) and are verified the same time for readability.

OK so let me get this straight. To backup XBOX1, just use XBC, check USE SECTOR MAPPER, then burn with IMGBURN? Are all those read errors normal when you don't have USE SECTOR MAPPER checked?

With IMGBURN do I leave the layer break set the same for Xbox 1 games when I burn??

That's basically what I did except I used Memorex media, which I've had issues with before. I didn't wanna use my expensive Verbatims for this test with XBOX 1 backups.

Yes. For XBOX1 games the Layer Break must be 1913776.
For XBOX360 games the Layer Break must be 1913760.
If you use imgBurn you must set the appropriate Layer Break at Options -> Write.
If you enter them wrong then the backup won't work for sure.

As for the sector mapper I can't help you with that because I have never tried to rip an XBOX1 game and I don't know how it works. But if you write a backup and then you cant verify it at imgBurn (highly recommend it every time you burn a game) then the backup won't work the most of the times.

Basically its better to use quality brands to be sure that your backup wont be a coaster...
