And the good news is that the SH-D163A DVD-ROM is now on the market (it is replacing the SH-D162C that is not produced anymore). Kreon is mentionning in this thread that he is looking for tester, so it seems a solution will continue to be available. I was afraid that they would find a way to prevent new pc drive to be used for this. so very good news  biggrin.gif .

rgds, soso

doesnt seem like that drive (the sh-d163a and TS-H353A) are much easier to find here in the US.  at least not with a quick google.

sh-d162c drives were still being manufactured as of july 2006 also.  not sure if they officially stopped production since then.

Bug:  Samsung MS25, but flashed with Xtreme v40a, so basically it is now like an MS28.  In 0800 mode, hooked up and detected fine in the program.  Couldn't get the drive key from the Drive Tools tab.

Textbook - hmm I thought I tested that, I'll look at it again, Does it error in ASPI mode too?

crackersficus - can you do a compare against an image made the old way with DVDInfo and IsoBuster, etc... Is this a Xbox One or Xbox 360 disk?

bongmaster420 - Make sure to goto the options tab and turn on logging, set it to the hightest level (debug) and then do some SS extractions off the drive. PM the ss files and the log to me please.

It is not possible to create a true duplicate of a xbox disk, you will have to flash the firmware in the xbox in order to use these backups.

Hey RedLine, thanks for the utility. It is super easy to use.

I guess I've just got a few questions for anybody. I haven't really tracked previous applications or releases of this program, so I guess I need to understand a few things, as I haven't tried to burn my image yet. I do in fact have the sh-d162 drive to use with this utility, so it's to my understanding it should be very simple.

I've created an image of Fifa, it seemed fairly straightforward, ended up with an image about 7.05 gb as opposed to some of the earlier ones in my experiment stages I only got 6.80gb, so I'm guessing I made a copy of the image correctly.

Is burning the game supposed to take about 40-45 minutes?

I can use XB Backup Creator to extract the SS I know, but do I need to "Merge" the SS with the image using XB Backup Creator? I think I read somewhere that it automatically does it if you use XB Backup Creator to create your image, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Another thing, which should I select when using the SH-D162 for ripping games, SPTI or ASPI? How about when I'm using my Benq for burning games?

Do I have to do anything to my burner I plan to use to burn the games? I was reading a little about setting booktype or something?

I've got a benq dw1655 and I've read that it DOES in fact burn successful discs, but I've also got a pio 111 in case I need to go a different route.

I guess that is about it. I know, its a lot, sorry. Thanks in advance!  biggrin.gif

WELLLLLLLLLLLLL. Good news here from basecamp. I went ahead and tried it out. First attempt at burning a game, and SUCCESSFUL.

Wow. All I can say RedLine and those who helped him is THANK YOU. This is phenomenal. My XB360 games were getting all scratched up and whatnot.

I guess for the purpose of the exercise in case anyone else needs help, I'll try to answer my own questions to my best ability. Those who feel to add any info, go for it.

If you have a sh-d162 flashed with kreon's latest FW this using this utility will be SIMPLE backup creation for you.

Q: Is burning the game supposed to take about 40-45 minutes?
A: It did for me when I chose 2.4x. Oh well, can't complain.

Q: I can use XB Backup Creator to extract the SS I know, but do I need to "Merge" the SS with the image using XB Backup Creator?
A: If you ripped the image yourself using XB Backup Creator 2.2 you do not need to extract SS or any other files to inject, b/c XB Backup Creator automatically adds SS for you when you create the image.

Q: Another thing, which should I select when using the SH-D162 for ripping games, SPTI or ASPI? How about when I'm using my Benq for burning games?
A: I left it on the default for both, ripping and burning. (SPTI). Different settings might work better for different setups I suppose.

Q: Do I have to do anything to my burner I plan to use to burn the games? I was reading a little about setting booktype or something?
A: I used IMGBurn to set my booktype to DVD+R DL, I am not sure however if this is necessary or not.

Q: I've got a benq dw1655 and I've read that it DOES in fact burn successful discs, but I've also got a pio 111 in case I need to go a different route.
A: The Benq DW 1655 worked just fine to burn the disc. Now only if they made DL discs that were lightscribe!

Hope that helps someone. I guess I did my homework, with a little bit of guessing on the way.
