I'd rather not get overly involved in this, but if whomever "did it" wants to PM or e-mail me I will not divulge their ID and I'll see what we can do to fix all this.
I don't particularly care who did what but the customer should get a working board when all is said and done unless the customer was the one to do this.
I have seen al sorts of damage, this is bad but not the worst. I have several installers as clients, and customers do amazing things to their boards (one removed the pin header with pliers sans soldering iron).
I suppose my take is the following:
- no installer wants their reputation tarnished.
- no customer wants their board blown away.
- Everyone should take a fucking chill pill and relax.
- A mod might want to lock this thread if people don't chill.
Finally to all you installers and other people out there:
We all bork stuff sometimes. Just today I soldered a socket on a clevermod (Hippo those are awesome by the way) upside down. Genius, pure genius. It happens.
What proves you good is when you own up to your goofs. I've done free repairs, or low cost repairs because I took longer than I promised, or because I've screwed up.
Dr Who:
If you search back you'll see I've been called lots of names (mostly relating to my base price of $40 for repairs). I have rarely needed to "go off" like you have and any time I have I've done it in PMs not on the forums.
Alright, I'm getting off my soapbox now.
