Computer Doesn't Recognize Memory Card Via Usb
« on: August 31, 2006, 09:52:00 PM »

First off, if this is in the wrong forum, please move it. I was unsure on where it goes.

Now, to my problem. Since I’m too cheap for a transfer kit, I decided I’d solder up myself a USB adapter for my memory card. I followed the simple tutorial at 360gamesaves (but left out the quick disconnect part) and made sure all my soldering points were adequate.

Now here’s my problem, when I plug the card into my USB slot, my computer finds only one USB device. (unlike two stated in the tutorial). My computer classifies this device as a “Unknown Device” but when I go into Device Manager>Update Driver, it only gives me the option to choose Unknown Device, I have no other options.

I’ve tried taking off the USB port and plugging my card into my 360 to make sure it works, and it does, so I know it’s not my card.

Here are some pictures of the card and the soldering points, maybe I did something wrong?

I don’t know if it would matter, but I didn’t have any 10ohm resistors, so I think I put on two 100ohm (don’t quote me on that one, I’m not positive they’re 100, but I’m pretty sure)

I also tried the drivers on 360gamesaves, the something 11pack that includes three different drivers. When I tried to apply them via Device Manager>Update Driver, I got the ol’ “this driver contains nothing for your product” or whatever that error is.

Someone please decipher this problem, my HDD recently got some corrupted files (I lost like four hours of Oblivion and all of my Prey saves) so I’d like to back everything up onto my computer.

Thanks,
razzle
