Alternative To Windows Media Center Edition

i have a xbox 360 and i dont want to buy a computer or the os window media center edition to transfer video like wmv or mpeg 4 to my xbox360 and stream to by tv.....does anyone know of a way to do this....i already know that i can do pictures and music but windows connect does not stream video or at least i havent found a way to do it..  am thankfull for anyone that help with this.......

hell yes i would be intrested in this...i have win xp pro..cant afford another upgrade to mce...have seen other software on ebay which claims to be a substitute for win mce ...i wont buy it even for the asking price of £4 cos im not sure if it reallly does work

I have XP pro genuine and I won't pay/downgrade to MCE05 for video streaming.

I'm going to get windows VISTA that will allow the video streaming when it comes out.

I tried searching for a Linux version that may still be in the works,  if anyone knows of one, maybe they can post it.

I'd be interested to keep tabs on this as well.

Yea xboxxpert made a a tutorial (half-ass) it replaces your drivers when you install VMware so it screwed up my sound but i would be really intresed in a Good one with a NICe tutorial cause i want MCE damit.

Wow that was a uneducated remark. Last time I checked MCE IS XP Pro with a media add on (Go ahead dont believe me just watch the install). So unless you need a domain access to that huge work server you have Its the same in everyway possible.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Vista is VERY  CPU intensive and unless you have a reasonably decent computer dont plan on running it.
