correct me if im wrong..
but, for someone to gain access to your gamertag, are they not going to need something more then just your passport information. While, yes this is still important information, especially if it's your one email you use for everything..it doesn't mean they'd be able to log into your gamertag via their xbox360.. as you would need all the location information as well as the last 4 credit card digits.
Personally, would I use this? No, it's just not that important to see who's on at all times. Most of the people I play with msg eachother when everyone decides to get on. For others, I can see how it could be handy.
Neat little program I guess, it just doesn't appeal to me. As well with the risk asociated with it [which may be very little] I just don't see the use of it.
I'm not concerned with the live account.
These programs, if malicious.. could hand people your passport info. (name/pass)
For some.. that's critical info.
I'm not suggesting EITHER program is malicious of trojanized. I simply don't jump at an opportunity to give unknown apps/devs my passport info. Especially for so little a payoff.
If the sources of the programs was a more respected or trustworthy source, I'd probably be jumping for joy.
Also.. a little bit of paranoia and caution are good. People with neither, these days are the victims of all manner of abuse, including systems for of spyware, malware, trojans, backdoors, phishers, virii, etc.
In the end.. it's a leap of faith. The differnece for some people, is that just cause it's posted on a news page, doesn't mean you automatically jump head first.
First, research, caution, and precaution.
There really isn't any points for being first. But people will point and laugh if people get nailed by insideous programs.
