Running MCE inside VMware is probably your problem.  I'll bet you are maxing out the processor.  I'm not sure what to tell you at this point.  Maybe reinstall without using Vmware?

the only reason i have VMware is that i dont have the money to buy a whole nother computer to hav MCE on. im getting a portable hard drive soon and i could transfer VMware to that. that would help some wouldnt it? would adding frameskip help any? the psp roms lagged also but frameskip helped alot.

That won't help at all. The problem is not your hard drive, but your processor. VMWare is taking all your processor, leaving nothing to the emulator. Try to make a new partition on your current HD, install Media Center on it, then on boot, choose the one you want to run.

yeah, anytime i use media center i do it on boot. because thats just more crap running if i dont. ive ran a defrag, and tried to clear some space.  but i havent used MCE in  while ountill i can figure out how to stop the lag on it, sometimes when i start it up its really slow, and then it gets faster. i dunno, my CPU is shit.
ill just have to work on it. a new processor would help assloads wouldnt it?

What speed is your processor?

Because my computer used to lag alot and hang some here and there. But that was because i didnt have enough RAM memory. I upgraded that and it was all good from then on.

Sorry for contradicting but a hard drive upgrade would increase your computer's performance.  Such as upgrading from a normal IDE hardisk to a Serial ATA. It would increase the speed of data transfer from the harddrive to the processor. It would actually help, but not near as much as a processor or RAM upgrade.

I got the Emulator working on my TV. But I can't choose any games. It automatically runs the space wars rom. How do I get running some other roms?

Edit the nes.html file inside C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Media Center\Media Center Programs\nes

Look for this line of code <param name="ROMFILE"      value="/roms/tet.zip" />

test.zip is a Tetris rom , this would normally be the game you talk about starting up all the time.

Actually you dont have to do that anymore,  if you download the latest version from page 8 it will automatically generate the list and allow you to run the games on click from the list.

I've attached a link to a version of NESCafe that works through Media Center on the Xbox 360.  This is currently setup to run at 480p (Widescreen).  You can edit the nes.htm file if it does not fit correctly on your screen.  I haven't found a way to add a menu for the roms list so you will have to edit the nes.htm and change <param name="ROMFILE"      value="/roms/whateverrom.zip" /> to whatever Nes rom you want to play.  I've included a Public Domain rom for testing but have verified Zelda1-2, Excitebike, and TecmoBowl and all worked.
Please do not ask for ROMs as they are quite easy to find (Google - "Nes Roms").  dry.gif

DOWNLOAD RAR: http://www.yourfilel...t.php?fid=58730
INSTALL:
You will need to extract the rar into C:Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Media Center\Media Center Programs\ on your media center box.  It took a bit for the icon to show up under More Programs but it finally will.

NOTES:  Sound is not functioning, Media Center 2005 is required.  If it locks up you will need to run something that warns you that it is a web page and check the box that says "Don’t show this again".  Once you do that it should run fine.  I created an MCL that just went to Google and then checked that box.  I've also attached an image with the mapping of the Xbox Controller to the corresponding keyboard keys.

Excellent work my friend. Is there anyway to automatically have it refresh each time it starts? I use this emulator sometimes but its mostly for my mom and her love for tetris. She doesn't really know anything about computers and everytime something pops up, she asks me what to do. Would be cool if it would refresh automatically. Still a great job man.

You could have a scheduled task setup in windows (on the media center) that runs the process.vbs every 5 minutes or so.  That way when a new rom is added to the folder, 5 minutes later it shows up in the list...

Thats the best I can do with the restrictions in place.

Make sure the MCX# Account thats in the Users section under windows is in the Administrators group.  Try running it from your media center box and see if errors there...
