I don't have a HD tv, but I'll try to find a solution to maximize the window dimension.

- Open nes.css in notepad.
- Find this using the search option:
CODE
/* Frames - Start */

- From there, you should see a block that looks like that:
QUOTE
#content {
   padding: 0px;
   position: relative;
   left: 0px;
   top: 0px;
   height: 100%;
   margin: 0px 2px;
   background: transparent;
   text-align: left; /* part 2 of 2 centering hack */
   min-width: 390px;
   width: 390px;
   border: 0px;
   z-index: 3;
   }

Try to edit the number in bold to something bigger. The setting for the height is set to 100%, so you only need to modify the width and min-width of the window. If it works but there's only a small difference, you could try to modify the same setting as atrain987. in the nes_mod.htm, set the width and height to the biggest dimension your tv can handle, then fine tune it with the one in the nes.css file

Tell me if it works.

well, is there a way to correct your bandwidth  settings on MCE? tell me all the things i need to do that could possibly make nesCafe run better.

thanks alot for your help.

xexter, since you know more about java than me, it would be greatly appriciated if you could tell me how to set my bandwidth settings for MCE and get the emulator how to run as fast as possible.

In the files I included in my first release, I activated the sound in the nes_mod.htm file and Xexter didn't see it  laugh.gif  so to ameliorate the framerate a little:

- open nes_mod.htm in notepad
- search for
CODE

- replace it with that (or just change the value to false:
CODE

I'll look in MCE SDK to find a way to make the sound work. This might be more difficult than the loader I did  unsure.gif

I tired to edit the nes_mod.htm to make the picture fit to my screen but the picture is still just a little square in the middle of my TV.  Here is the line I edited: name="nescafe" width="1920" height="1080". Is that the correct location, is there something else i need to do, or is it just not possible. The rom list is fit to my screen but when i Play the game its a small square.

I think you have to edit the height and width in the APPLET tag.  Where the rom is actually loaded in NES_mod.htm.

Yeah I've been looking into sound as well.  MS has it locked down so that the only way to play audio is by using the PlayMedia() Api. This ticks me off as a remote desktop connection isn't locked down so if you RDP to your media center box and open our stuff in a normal browser, sound works!  You are basically telling media center to play the file and it uses its built in engine for audio and video. The only thought would be to have Java have a transport stream using MP3/WMA and then have the page send a PlayMedia on that stream.  I'm not sure about lag but this would be the only way this would work.  Obviously this would require a code change on the Java side.  NESCafe is opensource and you can download it if someone wants to take a crack at it...

We could also do something really cheesy and find mp3 audio of all the background music for the games, and send a playmedia() on those mp3's when that game is played.   wacko.gif

Well no, but it would be funny. (The mp3 playing in the background part)

The stream I think would work as long as there wasn't a buffer.  Maybe its a lost cause.

Read the code we wrote in the previous post... We can't help you much more than that. If you're on wireless, try a wired connection, try to reduce the size of the emulator (again by reading the code I posted before), add the line I wrote for the sound (see previous post), read previous post... you catch my drift? tongue.gif

What do you think about having him read the previous post?   biggrin.gif   Sorry, couldn't resist.

ARES61890,
You need to give us specific details for us to help you with a "Rom lag problem"
ITEMS NEEDED:

--------------------------
Media Center Machine
--------------------------
Processor Type:
Processor Speed:
How is it connected to your Network? Wired Cat5 100Mb/Full Duplex, Wireless 802.11B, 802.11G, 802.11A
Do you have Media Center Rollup 2 installed?
Do you have the latest version of Java installed?

Do you have another system that is connected to the network that you can test with?  If so:
Go to that machinea nd Start --> Run --> Type in "mstsc" click run --> type in the name of your media center box, click connect, login, go to the folder where you have the nes emulator installed and launch AutoNav.htm,  Pick a game and launch it.  Does this run just as slow as your Xbox 360?
Also while you are connected to your media center this way, right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager, Click on the processors.  Now leave that up and connect your Xbox 360 and Launch a NES game, go back to your media center and check the processor utilization?  Are you pegging out the processors at 100%?

-----------
Xbox 360
-----------
How is this connected to your network?  Cat5, Wireless

---------
Network
---------
If your network is wired, what is it wired to?  100mb Switch, 100mb HUB, your Wireless router, Crossover cable straight to the xbox 360

Answer each of these questions and we might be able to help you.

Just to do it.  I didnt think sound was going to be an issue at the time.  I didn't find out that sound wasn't working until after the emulator was working.  I actually dont even play NES games anymore, but I got the idea and was bored one Saturday.  What was the point of reading through 8 pages on a forum to post that question?

It was also a proof of concept to show what could be done.  You could embed Flash games, other Java Apps, pretty much any active X control and have it work on the 360 in your LIVING ROOM.  All this from a 10 ft interface.

It's liek saying: what's the point of having a 360 if ps2 games don't work on it? ¬¬;; Seriously, if you don't like it, don't post then... we'Re doing this this for fun, to learn at the same time (I'm learning the MCE SDK at the same time) and I think that fact alone is the greatest one. It's a challenge, it keeps us busy and I'm sure there's alot of people who enjoy it.

Every emulator had to evolve, this one is no different. It's a start, but it's not the end.

umm. all i have to say is. holy shit, thats alot of shit. but, i dont know about my attributes to media center because i just downloaded VMware and the media center dvd iso to run it on my computer, and the java confuses the hell out of me, so what i was asking is...is there a way to put my priorities from my computer to MCE? because if i have VMware running, it  acts as a second computer, so i could afford to have all my bandwidth put to media center. i just have to get in the groove for these java emulators. its a brand new door to me. im just use to making emulators and editing roms, i never have worked with java.

 ive looked at the emulators for the psp, and ive had the idea that if they can get a browser that runs java on the psp, and have the emulator in the games slot it could possibly work, its just an idea, ill have to work with it. also psp supports xml. mabey i could encrypt a file into the browser for certain roms. it might not match the game but it would have something playing in the background. once again just an idea

please give me your feedback. on both of the subjects.
