MCE Video Encoder-- Posted by XanTium on March 24 00:43 EST
Here's another application, similar to Transcode 360(info), that will encode xvid, divx and other video formats on-the-fly so you can stream them from your Windows MediaCenter PC to your Xbox 360.
From lightningware.co.uk:

Quote

MCE Video Encoder is a Windows application that controls encoding and streaming of all video files, including DivX and XVid.
The application also includes a set of add-ins for Windows Media Center Addition 2005 that controls the MCE Video Encoder application.
Therefore, this allows you to not only set up and control video streams from your Windows Media Center PC, but also control and view the streams from a Media Center Extender and even an Xbox 360.

MCE Video Encoder has the following features:
* Start and Stop Streaming from Windows Client and MCE Add-in,
* Pause and Unpause Streaming from Windows Client and MCE Add-in,
* Rewind and Fast Forward the Streaming (by configurable amount) from Windows Client and MCE Add-in,
* Play the stream from MCE Add-in,
* View Progress of video encoding in Windows Client, and
* Remote control MCE Video Encoder through Windows Messages and/or Command Files.

It seems like lots of people try to score some cheap fame and we get all these different applications that do the exact same thing. The downside to closed-source.

Better different applications that do the exact same thing then none at all.

I'm getting an error after restarting:

MCEVideoEncode.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services

Process id=0xc8 (200), Thread id=0xd8 (216).

Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.

Any ideas what that's about??

I hit Play, and I can see the DivX logo in my taskbar show up, disappear, show up, then disappear, then I get the error: "E3:Class not registered". When I hit play in MCE on the 360, I get the same error.

When you want to play a video you go to it - click info  - click more - click start streaming - then click view stream.

Is that how your doing it? it works great for me

Hi,

This is Gary the creator of MCEVideoEncoder. I have not encountered any of these error myself so cannot help without more information.

Please email me (my support email address is on my www.lightningware.co.uk website in the help pages) your problems with more detail and I'll look into them. Once the solutions have been found I will post them back here.

Off the top of my head a class not registered bug will appear if you haven't got one of the required libraries on your PC. Please make sure you have installed Windows Media Player V10 and Windows Media Encoder V9 before you install MCEVideoEncoder. You will also need to install any codecs the videos use (use gspot codec app to find this out).

Please remember that this is software in its beta stage and therefore small bugs may crop up. I will try and fix them ASAP if required. Your continued support is much appreciated smile.gif.

Hope this helps.
