Windows Media Connect/xbox 360 Recognition
« on: March 05, 2006, 01:28:00 PM »

Hello,
I have an Xbox 360 connected via hardwire to a Netgear WGR614 router. My PC internet connection works fine, and Xbox Live works fine as well.
However, I insalled Windows Media Connect and I cannot stream music ....it does not recognize the computer.
Windows Media Connect recognizes the xbox360 on my pc, but when I do the test on the 360, it does not recognize the PC.
Anybody have similar problems and have a solution? I have played with firewall on/off, Internet Sharing, File sharing, etc....
Anybody have a definitive method to get this to work correctly? I am using Windows Home Sp2 version 2002. I also do not currently have additional antivirus/internet installed, just the Windows stock stuff.
Thanks

My guess is that for some crazy reason it won't work over our wireless connections.  I have the same problem, except my 360 is hardwired into a modified WRT54G router that serves as an access point and connects to another WRT54G router that is wired to my internet connection.  Live works fine and the 360 shouldn't even be able to tell that it's not hardwired directly into the internet connection, but I've seen several complaints like this.

Is everyone else in this thread with this problem hard wired into a wireless router (or access point)?

All I know is I'm not spending money on some proprietary peripheral when I have a perfectly good 4-port access point that should work.
