i doubt a firmware update will change anything with harddrive access. they are swapable between 360s so i doubt they will ever password the drive. plus all the content is very secure inside signed pirs files which are signed and the xexs within are signed as well. i think its pretty locked down.

the suggestion of adding codecs is rediculous at this point. simply understand it won't happen to this thing until much more understood and it is completely hacked. codecs would require us running custom code. it is just wrong on many levels. everyone please accept that adding codecs isn't going to be like directshow codecs on the computer. it is much different and won't be simple. i know for sure that the 360 will be hacked and playing backups before we ever see custom code or let alone our own media players running.

ok so the softmod saves dont work? is it because of the hypervisor which prevents buffer overflow? if they found a new xbox game that had a exploitable bug in it would hypervisor prevent this attack also?

Ha yeah sorry about that. The problem I am having is that I am trying to create folders for original xbox saves (\Partition 3\Compatibility\Xbox1\UDATA). I am able to create the folder but when I insert a file it says something to the affect that the program could not find the end of the folder and does not copy the file. I can copy files to folders that are already created by the xbox 360. The problem only occurs with folders that I create. Also when I try to delete the folders I created nothing happens, I refresh by starting the program over and the folder will still be there.
After putting the drive back together, the xbox 360 reads those folders as “unknown game” now. It does give me the option to delete these “unknown games” so I am going to try that out and see what effect it has on the folders. I am going to play around with it some more tomorrow and see what it will do.

Update on my previous bug. I have tried the new beta 2 and still encounter the same error, though now I can delete folders. Here is a screenshot of the error:

ok, now since there is access to the harddrive and all of its data can be dumped off Someone that has a 360 that can run the kiosk demo should dump there 360 HD to thier pc. Im thinking we may be able to transfer the old firmware files to our 360 that where updated. This maybe a way of downgrading.... I doubt it, but its an option in the air.

memturbo, don't replace your save. put it next to it in a different folder as if you had 2 saves

Well, transfering Arcade games worked. I just used the profile that originally bought all of the Arcade games to run them on the new HDD. I'm pleased with the results, even if I am restricted to playing them offline and without achievements because the profile is not mine. Now, we need to find a way to eliminate the profile signing. :-)

heres what I discovered last night. I can try to test that tonight. But last night I took saves that were created on xbox1 and tried to move them over. I created the corresponding folder (which it did create) then I tired to drop the files in that folder didnt work. I can create folders inside that folder though.

Then I thought of an idea...What If I play the xbox1 game on my 360 and create a save then replace the new save files with my save files from xbox1...Now we know this wont work due to the nature of the signed save however when I deleted files for the new save I created on the 360 with the xbox1 game and replaced them with files of the same name i didnt get the error and they uploaded fine...However when I went back to play the game on the 360 there was no save reported. in the emulation mode but in the 360 manager it reported my save.

Dont know if thats of any help but...I think it could be...becuase we know doing this the linux way works fine...becuase i have done it and so have others.

Okay! First I'll just say hello, I am new here. I have two questions here and I'll just go ahead and post them:

My first question is this:

Could you use Xplorer 360 in tandem with a USB Hard Drive in some way?

My second question is this:

I am pretty uncomfortable with soldering and all of that and don't have the tools to do it anyway. Is there any help for someone like me to make use of this wonderful thing that we've found *in reference to the mem. card work?*

Thanks in advance for your help.

Check out the front page today about the Memcard/HDD articles. There are a few already made memory unit adapters available as well as even a HDD adapter. Once these are hooked up Xplorer will recognize your device.

As far as your USB Hard Drive question. Only if the hard drive is the 360 HDD connected through USB. When Xplorer is run, it searches for a device containing a Fatx Filesystem. A regular USB Harddrive would most likely contain FAT or NTFS; and thus not work.

That's good to go then. I don't want to sound like a total n00b here but if you try downloading one of the game demos, it's usually too large for your memory card and won't work. Will using the connectors expand your memory so that you can download those files or are you still screwed in size of memory available.

My main problem is that it's just ridiculously impossible to find a Hard Drive for a reasonable price so that's the work around I'm trying to get :-P Thanks again.

*edit--I can't see the main site at work. I'll try checking when I get home.
