Transcode 360 v1.0 Beta
« Reply #60 on: February 08, 2006, 09:51:00 AM »

i didnt install the xvid codec because some people were saying that it did nothing for them, i just went with what the creator said worked with his program (ac3 and divx). some people in this forum said it didnt do anything and people also said that the divx 6.1 would be fine for xvid as well.  ive read the forum through multiple times.  stuff like this is why i think twice about ever posting and just wait for others.  hopefully im just reading what you said out of context and you weren't trying to rip me apart via forums with capitals and 'didn't do'. in all seriousness though, i do thank you for the reply  im at work right now but if remember correctly it was an episode of 'my name is earl' or 'the office' or something of the like. which is in either xvid or divx from edonkey.

Oops! My apologies!
I didn't mean to tear you aprt over the forums. I meant to emphasize the importance of it all. Hope no one else took it that way!

Hope you didn't take it all TOO seriously. Oh there I go again with the caps.

Earl is usually in Divx codec (not that i would know such things as piracy is bad, bad, bad - lol)

Hope you get it sorted soon!

I haven't even had a chance to try this yat and I hope no one slaughters me on the forums like I did you if I can'tget it working. I'll probably just throw a big girls 'hissy fit' and have a tantrum! Hehe

i can only get my xvid/divx files to run on the same machine as media center and they seem to need to be in the shared directory. not had much time to play yet but if i add a directory on another hdd it does not show up on the 360.

apart from that everything works a treat.

Try installing the xvid codec AND the divx codec that was talked about.
You say you did EVERYTHING talked about, obviously not. It makes me wonder what else you 'didn't do'

Jeez you give some terrible advice. Didn't momma ever teach you to not say anything if you don't know what you're talking about?

You DO NOT want to install the Xvid codec. So the original poster did everything correctly, and I don't know what the heck you're going on about...

To the original poster, what you should do is try a video locally, if that works then you know the problem is network related and you can proceed from there.

RUNTIME - Any chance of allowing the transcode option on folders? Creating a Q? That way I could organize my video seasons/collections into folders and then playback an entire season.  love.gif

GunRunner69 - please post your log files (c:\program files\transcode360)

Garny - still having problems? send me a PM

Sc0rpion - check the log files it should give us an idea why it wasn't able to access movies on another location
(note: the 'local system' account only give T360 permission to access local harddrives which were formatted by the system)

scooby_dooby: yep something like that is do-able (maybe not by selecting a folder - but we can do the -CD1/stacking algorithm we use in XBMC)

Firstly, just want to thank the author of this software, it's superb, especially for a first release.

Secondly, thought I'd post my finding with getting it to work successfully, hopefully it might help some others out. Originally, I was running the latest (stable) version of XviD, DivX videos were streaming fine, XviD ones just got stuck on the encode screen. Uninstalled that and tried the latest version (beta, v1.2) and this didn't work either. Uninstalled that as well and I'm now using the latest DivX release and now everything is working flawlessly.

if i set up a local folder for the 360 to see, it sees it, it also sees folders on other computers as well, with thumbnails for every video file.

i guess i failed to mention in my originial post that i did try a file locally (fresh prince!lol) and still did the same thing, timed out and gave me no type of error in the log file located in Program Files/Transcode 360

Also check the C:\Program Files\Transcode360\Archived Logs because if the service needs to restart i.e. Windows Media Encoder dies then the log file is archived.

Likewise check out the Windows Event Log there may be some interesting entries there.

there is nothing in my logs directory because nothing has failed wink.gif

I can add the video directory in mce on the p.c it's just not shown on the 360.

great work by the way really appreciate all you've done.

If I have a divx/xvid file with AC3 audio, will this come through my xb360/receiver as DD5.1?  Currently it's only coming through as Stereo... If it should be coming through as DD5.1 what codec do i need?  I'm currently using the Divx 6.1 and the AC3 Filter 1.01a RC5 codecs.

Just had another go, removed all my codecs and installed just DivX6.1/AC3 and Xvid 1.2 but this time it just times out, changed the timeout to 120 but it still does the same.

All my logs are the same: 08/02/2006 19:02:19 *ERR* Windows Media Encoder threw an exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): WMEncoder.PrepareToEncode() failed.
   at Transcode360.MceServer.StreamFile()

Any ideas?

Why adding XviD 1.2 as it does not works (as stated here again and again)? Installing it is calling for problems.
Anyway, I had this very same problem and, guess what, it was codec-related. Just bother on reading the whole thread, and you'll see.
