Hi all:

I read from runtime's void that Transcode support real media video file as well. Is there a speical setting I need to go through? I have been trying to play my .rm file through transcode and I kept on getting the timeout error. The video plays in MCE; I tried to run it through WME and it works fine. However, I just can't get it to work on my Xbox360

real alternative codec is the one I used as recommanded.

Oke everything is working well

I have all the codecs you recommended installed
No errors

BUT when i`m playing a divx movie, it doesn`t play well
When playing the movie, it is showed like it has to load all the time, like it is stottering

When I open Extender Resource Monitor, this is what I get:

CPU utilization (%)           100          Red
Disk uses (Bps)                540602    Green
Network Uses  (Bps)         606187    Red
Memory available  (KB)    204606     Green


The problem is obviously in my network
I use a 10/100 Switch from belkin

My Pc : 1.60 Ghz CPU
            512 RAM

Can Anyone help me out? Caus it`s frustrating

yes i had the sam problem and i did like you. but i disabled the screen saver in xbox media center.. and now it never frezzez.

The streaming won't work on these kind of CPU's.  The system is just not good enough.  I tried my setup first on an 1600 Athlon and MCE2005 worked great on it, but it could not handle the streaming.

Did the same setup on a second partition of my FX57 and it worx great.

So : you need DECENT HARDWARE to get the stream smooth.

How do you explain the network problem then?

And the minimum requirements are at least a PIII, so might the problem be somewere else?

I got the Transcode 360, I got it working, It plays all types of movies

HOWEVER

about half of the movies that I play don't go smooth and they skip, I mean skip like when you play a game for which you don't have a powerful enough PC and it's doesn't go smooth. They skip on every few seconds, especially during the beginning. It doesn't make big skips, they're small. I play the same movies with the Media Center on my PC and they go smooth as they're supposed to.  

This does not apply to all movies, half of the movies I play go smooth and perfect. So what might be the problem ?, all movies play perfect on my PC , why isn't it the same when transcoding on the XBOX 360. However I played the movies directly on my PC rather them transcode them with the MCE in order to test.

I've got DivX 6.1, AC3 , later on installed Xvid 1.2 to see if it will make a difference,  but it didn't, and I'm gonna try ffdshow.

My PC is an AMD XP 2000+ with 512 RAM , which I believe is sufficient for this, and I exit all unnecessary programs prior to the streaming of a movie.

Could have to do with the resolution of the original movie.  Higher quality originals will be harder to transcode. (ie. more to transcode per frame) I am having a hard time with my 2500+ overclocked to almost 3200+ and getting nearly 100%.  I cannot do 5.1 since that pushes me over the top and it gets choppy.  Damn I need an x2.

I have the same problem unfortunately the installation process does not prompt me for Username or password... ?

Where do you change the timeout?  Mine keeps on timing out.

i think i found my problem my x360 is not streaming wmv  files  but it is streamong mpeg files  is this  a codec  issue?

Ok here are my specs:

Win XP MCE 2005
AMD 64 3000+ 1.8 GHz
1.0 GB RAM

I have installed WMEncoder newest version but when i go to install Transcode 360 v1.0 beta i get the following error, now the installation does not prompt me for any username or password ?
Any suggestions ?

ok anyone have any idea why my x360 media centre wont play wmv files from  my comp  
they work off another computer i have  and ive ried reinstalling the wmv codecs? but stumped  all i get is the circle circling and nothing else this is fater i installed transcode ,windows media encoder  etc
