I have been doing a lot of searching and couldn't figure out how to update my Media Center from 2004 to 2005. I've ran Windows update. I search the MS Website. I've googled it. I can't find nothing. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm sure most people know this but you have to have Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to use the media extender option on the 360. I have 2004 and can't find much on getting updated to 2005. Any information would help me out a whole lot.

You could buy an OEM copy of XP MCE 2005, and install it, don't know if it'll install as an upgrade over your previous version though so you may have to reformat.

I decided to go on eBay and found the HP Update disk I've needed. HP stops offering it back in Feb of 2005. If anyone has a HP Media Center and needs to update to 2005 I will help you out. HP said it's not illegal to distribute the software since it only benefits HP customers. If you need a copy, I will upload a torrent and I can make copies and send them to you.

As soon as my copy comes in the mail. I will send you a copy. It shouldn't be so hard to find this update. I plan on fixing that.

Okay Gentleman,
The HP Media Center 2005 Upgrade disk is in and it works great. If you have a HP media center pc running MCE 2004, you can contact me at [email protected], or IM at [email protected], AOL TheCamoMouse. To check you version is simple. Dont check it in the Systems Properties; it will give you incorrect information. You have to open Media Center, go to settings, go to general, go to About Media Center and it will tell you the correct version information.

Media Center--> Settings--> General--> About Media Center

Let the Xbox360 Media Extending begin.

Okay, how dumb am I. Can someone teach me how to make a torrent. Ive been going over it and havent found much luck. I can make the actually .torrent but not make it work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)

please let me know how to down load the hp update when avaiable. using a hp m1080n with mce 2004 which works with very little new addons as im finding out.

I searched mininova.org and found a torrent but with no seeders ...so it's useless (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

im not sure the appropriateness of speaking of torrents so openly, even if it is 100% legal it always sounds like its stolen or pirated. just fyi
