Sp2 Really Necessary?

I have also have a legit version of Windows XP andSP2 realy %$# its slows down my PC.
Is there a way to let the installer thing SP2 is installed ? maybe somewhere inside the registery (I can make Home edition into Pro)

Upgrading to SP2 should be mandatory. It also shouldn't be slowing your system down. Either it's all in your head or you have something else causing the slowdowns. In the past when SP2 first came out everybody that had a problem with SP2 that asked me for help had some sort of malware on their computer that was actually causing the problem. They had malware on their PC before updating to SP2 and then it would slow down or mess something up. Of course, everybody likes to blame things on SP2 and not malware.

I guarantee if you install SP2 on a fresh install or slipstream it you won't notice any slowdowns.
