This sounds completely stupid, but how similar are xbox 1 files compared to xbox 360 files? Similar dvd structure apparently... Just for "testing purposes", we should see if we can get these files to boot up on an original xbox to see where the similarities end. I am pretty sure they are completely different, but who knows...maybe Micro$oft chose a very similar format to the orginal xbox and only changed the file extensions around. That would be crazy to see an xbox 360 game run on a modded xbox 1 and run completely slow as dirt. It would be pointless to try to attempt I guess, because even if it did work it would be unplayable, but it would give us some insight on how different their security measures are. I am just curious what Micro$oft meant when they said "this time around we built our security up to the hardware level". If that means what I think it means, we will need a modchip with  80+ wires. Ok, i'm done rambling, flame me for sounding stupid if you want, but thats just my 2 cents.

No way in hell that would work. First of all the executables are compiled for totally different processors. Xbox is x86 and the 360 is IBM powerpc. That's why you have to play your original xbox games through an emulator. Overall just a terrible idea.

why does everyone love soft modding so much, mod chips are a lot pimper/stabler.  Also, ur gunna want to play and use live (at least i am).  So like a soft mod may be first but the mod chip will be better.

just as it states.... in a command prompt, go into the directory where you stored the xtract360.exe, and then for example mine looks like "C:\pi-xtos1\ xtract360.exe *game name here* (one that you already have on your hdd of your computer) and then press enter and it will extract the game from its .360 form...

haha thanks im an idiot... i missed that...  tongue.gif

well...just so everyone knows the time frame for xbox 1:
launched on nov 8th, 2001
First thing you could burn and "boot" yourself. March 30th, 2002
Isos hit. May 1st-4th, 2002
Xtender is annouced with promise to play unsigned code. May 7th, 2002
People got their modchips. May 19th-31st, 2002

Now while this all seems like it happened rather fast...consider the fact that 7 months went by before we even saw isos on the first xbox. Though I don't count neox as having the 1st modchip, they did announce one way before the iso releases. These isos come as a surprise....But I doubt a way to play them will come before summer...possibly longer....

I would like to remind you guys, that It took like months before ProjectX released their first XBOX isos. and within 2 months Enigma chip was released  smile.gif

The protection of the XBOX360 is much harder than the previous one, but we got more knowledge than before, so hacking this one should be as easy as hacking XBOX

If we could release rips withing 3 weeks after launch, then we can definately hack it within 6 months  cool.gif

ahh yes the Xtender...

The hardest xbox mod chip to install...

That was a bitch and im glad its done with...

But im afraid the the xbox 360's first mod chip will probably have a billion wires to solder... sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif

And i bet i am one of the few that will atemp to install a mod chip into my 360, If it's got a crap load of wires.

I suspect there dumps were made by installing the xbox 360's dvd drive into a pc. The 360's drive has the required firmware to read an original disc. They would still need to figure out the file system. You still have the issue of the custom power/eject cable but they could of used the 360 to provide these functions to the drive.

Also given that it appears the file system is very similar to the original xbox gdf file system they were probably able to modify some of the tools we have to dump original xbox disc's to work with the 360's drive in the pc.

Unless they were using a computer with SATA connectors, they didn't do that.
