Xbox 360 W/ Xp Pro
« on: November 18, 2005, 10:39:00 AM »

I could not believe how easy it was to setup XP with XBOX 360.  In 5 min I had 1000 songs accessible by the XBOX 360.  Windows Media Connect must be running on the PC and it will recognize the console right away.  One of the cool features that I have discoverd.  Just have to wait til Tuesday to play with MCE 2005

What about videos?  Can you stream from the PC?

With Windows Media Center 2005 is suppose to be able to.  They have not allowed us early users of 360 the ability to use MCE 2005 with the 360.   On tuesday I wll be able to give information.  But for right now songs and pictures are easy to network over

I have a virtual version of Windows Media Center 2005.  With VMware it creates virtual network links and my router thinks its another ip address.  So when im running Windows and run XP MCE 2005 virtually.  I have access to both systems but for right now no MCE 2005 video support

Hi codeman_6t9,
I'm not sure if you heard the news, but you don't need to wait until Tuesday to play with the Media Center Extender functionality.

MS has enabled the ability to do this today. You can do it by visiting this site:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup
Click the setup button at the bottom to get started.

Let us know how it goes.

Has anyone had any luck getting this to work?  The Xbox gives you an access code and says to install from www.xbox.com/pcsetup but when i install the program it never asks for the access code.  I can access music but the main connect does not work.

I have Windows XP Media Center 2005, but no media reciever. Will I still be able to use the 360 streaming capabilities?  If not, where can I buy just a reciever?
