Well folks after buying 2 broken boxes off of fleabay, I have done the x clamps and both are now working. I am fortunate that they both had old style blade dash (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) My question is I have done the jtag and am on 8955 dash thanks to all the info on here. Now I want to customize my avatar but it is saying I need to do an update. I am reluctant in case it will no longer boot homebrew. can some kind soul point me in the right direction as to what i need to do in order to get avatar content. If this is in the wrong section i do apologise

you can download the standalone update and put it on a usb drive and update from there, google for the update, theres a tonne out there i just dont remember any lol

Are comments like this really needed (shakes head ) Im like many others are more sick of seeing the smart azz comments and flaming as I am of stupid questions. I mean who is a noob that joined in march to flame anyone? And the search here sucks you get the error and then need to use crappy google

It used to be that xboxhacker had a shit search engine. But now they have finally gotten their act together. Now its xbox-scene that has a shit search feature. So dont go screaming to search for it. Maybe you could make a sticky with all these common questions if you dont like seeing people ask them...

What a complete plank you are, geting your rocks off by flaming other folks. a million times eh and i suppose you gave the same response to them as well, why dont you try and be constructive and answer the question instead (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This question may have been asked before but i do do a lot of searching before i go asking a question, as you can see i have managed to do most things without asking for advise but I only asked this question as my search revealed two answers , yes you can have the latest dash and the other was no you cant as it will kill your homebrew.

So i read further and found out you can have latest dash on freeboot. question answered.

just install the latest freeboot(.32) that comes with the 9199 dashboard and download the system update for it off of xbox.com it will then install avatars to your HDD, usb, memcard or whatever.

Thanks for the reply (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) but as you can see I had just figured that out myself. I was unsure what was going to happen but being as i had 2 boxes to try I thought I would risk it and give a go anyway...

Everyone stop talking bull about the search function not working. I typed "jtag avatar" into google and the first page had the info on it from Xbox Scene. There is no need for the same questions to be asked over and over again. This board will never move forward if it's most recent topics are stuff that is already asked.

Search doesn't work. Don't give me that rubbish!
