Merge Borderlands Dlc Into Extracted Image?
« on: March 06, 2010, 02:32:00 PM »

I only have a 20Gb attached xbox 360 hard drive, so the borderlands dlc eat alot of that space, combined with saves and its almost gone.

Is there any way to merge the DLC for Borderlands into the extracted image to be run from External USB? or>
Is it possible for NXE to recognize DLC that does not reside in HDD:/content/

I think one of the best things that could be patched into the next XBR, would be the possibility for NXE to search multiple locations for DLC.

I like your thinking. There isn't a way known to do that right now, BUT...

Your external hard drives may be using SATA. If you were to open the 360's drive caddy, and replace its drive with your own, and format it using the 360, you could use that instead of the internal 20gb. I've done that with a dozen or so, so far. It's an easy mod, if you can get the screws out. You'll have to FORMAT the drive when you do it, so you lose all data, so make sure you have a backup, and have copied your savedata/DLC/etc off the original 20gb drive.

I don't even know where you'd begin to implement this into nand/NXE/XBR. Another possibility might be a new dashboard which could implement that function...again I don't know. But it would be incredibly useful.

A new dash wouldn't work, as DLC and such isn't loaded by dash, it's core functionality. It would have to be an XBR patch someplace. Shouldn't be too terribly hard for someone with debugging access, just like the Dash Launcher that was recently released - actually, easier even.

Do you think XBR development will ever be opened to people without a Development kit? (or is it now? or?)  unsure.gif

Why don't you reserve 16GB on external HDD as memory unit in NXE? Then you can access it using File manager or FTP in Freestyle Dash 2. It figure as USBMU0:.
Better than nothing.
