so i went ahead and jtag modded a xbox i purchased off of ebay. but i forgot to go on live first to get the xvid codec. is there anyway to get my box playing xvids or is the only option to go on live to get the update?

It's probably better that you didn't go on Live first, because that would've updated the kernel to the latest, thus rendering it un-JTAGable.

Oops, forgot to answer the question:
No, I don't think there is a way as of now. Wait a few weeks.

oh yeah i couldnt go onto live to get the update    lol   but still i would like it now  but  i dont want to sign into live to get it   incase something comes up later where i would not want this console banned

hey thanks   that worked perfect   xvids up and running   i also suggest if anyone else reads this to go to settings and disable xbox live
