Is It Possible To Remove The Updates From Dvds?
« on: November 22, 2009, 11:35:00 AM »

As the question, is this possible like it is done on the Wii, i have tried with xbox image browser on cod mw i chaged the update file for an older one, and fill the rest of the file with 0's untill the size was the same and re
entred it, it says this game requires and update but can't be found got xbox live blah blah, in the update folder there is something called system.manifest anybody know what this is for. I have a banned system and rolled back the firmware to one that reads anything extreme 1.4 on benq,
When the game was programmed it didn't know about forth coming updates so it should work on an older system. just got to find the tags that tell it, it needs an update i'll keep looking/playing anybody else had any luck on this front ???

what are you hoping to accomplish? you are talking about a few hundred megs (at most) on a 7.4 gig image. anything you do to the updates on the disc will only effect the update itself, and not the requirement to install the update.

to be able to keep my current exploitable dash version and use newer games.

not possible (well, unless you do the jtag hack and use the rebooter to get into the current kernel. i can't remember the name of the program off the top of my head, but it might have been called freeboot or something like that)

as i said before, that only changes the update on the disc. it doesn't change the fact that the update needs to be installed for the game to run. that would only create a scenario where the game would say "an updated is needed, would you like to install it?", then the update would fail, and it would ask you again.
