Noob Needs Advice With Backups
« on: August 09, 2009, 01:26:00 PM »

I own a Dell 1530 laptop with a Optiarc 7640a dvd burner. I plan on burning backup games when I get my 360 back from getting flashed. The guy told me I need to buy a certain burner and program to make my backups. I have clone cd, imgburn and xboxbackup creator now. Being inexperienced in game backups I'm asking for any kind of advice I can receive from the vast pool of knowledge in the forum. Thank you in advance.

haha so much for that vast pool of knowlege lolzies. Yea first off you need a dual layer dvd burner, you can pick one up for 30 bucks on the cheap side and 45-50 on the high side. Heres an economy lesson, they're all the same they all suck and are cheap as balls. Go to a tiger direct or microcenter or some nerd shop they sell the same brands there for way cheaper than best buy or fry's (some good brands lite-on, or samsung). ok now u need the discs, this is the sensitive part. I've used the wrong disc and broken 2 dvd burners. The best ones are the sony dl rw 8.5 gb. They're a lil pricey (like around 35-40 bucks for 20 of em) but they're worth it. Now i could lay out the rest for you. but the software part is a little hairy legally, all i can say is google autoxbins and do a lil research.

50 views and youre the first to take the time to help, thank you. It seems like the more research I do the more confusing it becomes. Dual layer burners, kreon drives, firmware, stealth checkers, and 10 different backup programs, I feel like a computer programming degree is needed. Thanks for helping simplify it and guiding me in the right direction.
