Help! System Update File $systemepdate_12-2007

Hi, I dont have live so the only way I can install the system update is to download it from xbox .com and burn it to disk and then install.

the problem is I have done it with the directions to the T and it will not work correctly.

5 dvd's and 10 cd's later it still does not work even after trying various burning programs.

is there a place they can be order legally?

I mean this is silly stupid already and I have wasted enough time and money for something MS should provide free on live or by mail.

they do provide it free on live, you only need a silver account to download it.

are you rebooting the console after placing the disc in the console?

also check what dashboard your running under 'system info' in the settings blade. you may already have the latest dashboard. latest dashboard/kernel version is 2.0.6690

That's the problem there is no live or broadband in my area so thats not an option for me  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I have rebooted the console multiple times with each burn.

running 2.0.6683

I got the backward compatibility disk to burn and work right no problem but not the system update.

can a CD-R be used for the system update?

I called 4myxbox last night and they said they provide the disk and I explained that is only for the backward compatibility disk and not the actual system update and he told to to hold so he can check into it and I waited 20 minutes and got angry and slammed the phone down becuase he never came back.

I went back to the site and checked again for a way to order the system upddate disk and there was not such thing to be found.

what a joke.

you cannot order it. if the downloaded one wont work, then a pressed one wont work.

i would say that the update your downlaoding is actually the one you have already got. the update from 6683 to 6690 was a very small update and didnt actually add any featues

why do you want the update anyway? if you dont have live then you really wont get anything usefull out of a newer dashboard.

you could always use ICS (internet connection sharing) so you can share your (im presuming) dial-up connect with the xbox so you can log into xbox live.
