Righto mate... How exactly is windows vista compatable with the 360? The 360 uses a PowerPC processor, which, incidently, uses the PowerPC architecture... Not an x86 arcitecture which vista is built to run on... Do a quick google search if you dont beleive me. (This is also the reason why Xbox 1 games are emulated on the 360)

Your job mustnt be very techy at all (as you said), because that kind of thing is kinda basic knowledge when your working with computer hardware...

I have a serious question (If you really do what you say you do), is the job boring? Working on one identicle piece of hardware, and determining which out of the 3 or so parts in the 360 is faulty? Idk, but it would bore the living shit out of me...

In future, please check and research things before you go posting stupid-ass statements like this.. Id say your brother is full of shit. People do lie, remember?

oh man, this is going in my sig. classic.

and to actually call us noobs and say that it IS possible. im guessing you dont even know how hard it is to get linux running on the xbox (which can actually support PPC hardware) let alone Vista. Mac's couldnt run any windows OS for a long long time as they also used a PPC architecture, it wasnt untill they switch to intell that Windows was possible on a mac.

and its not just the architecture. a windows installer relies heavily on the standrad PC BIOS, and theres the fact that there are no drivers for the CPU, GPU, or absolutely anything. if there was something this big with so many advanced drivers already been built, we would of heard something as thats not a small project. hell, even linux doesnt have full driver support and its widely known in the modding community.

the only way you could get Vista running on it would be to emulate it through Linux but that would be painfully slow (think of it as running XP on a 486)

i suggest you brush up on your hardware knowledge

LoL, maybe hes getting confused with the Media Centre Extender, because on the Xbox 1 you had to install it I think, on the 360 you just set-up your network (make sure it's PNP enabled) then hit the media centre button then you get the extender.

But if that is not what your after then lol.

If I worked for M$ do you think _I_ would be trawling an Xbox web forum where backups and firmware hacks are being discussed. (Apparently) You are in Microsoft so use your legs and go talk to someone who knows more. Why trawl a forum, which by the way, clearly and repeatedly informs it's users that the only thing possible at this stage is the firmware hack and h/w mods.

I work for a pharmaceutical company and if I wanted to know more about pill pressing I don't think I'd be trawling the forums for help! LoL this guy's got his foot stuck in the rocks and the tide's rolling in!  biggrin.gif

I've walked the walk- now I can talk the talk. Ever heard that saying? It means I've spent countless hours trawling around 6000 posts reading most of them and getting my head around it all. I know it's tempting to ask the question but it really makes you look like a pratt. Do the research then let us know what you've learnt. Maybe that will save your reputation a bit.

I think its time we closed this thread, the questions has been answered multiple times, along with a lot of (due) bagging out. Its just turning into a flame war now, so theres no reason why this thread should be open...
