Problem With Divx Update
« on: January 04, 2008, 11:43:00 PM »

Ive downloaded the update and my movies play fine, but everytime I turn off my console and turn it on again the dashboard tells me to download the optional codec again, I have to download it over and over again. When I connect to xbox live it just plays,  the console doesnt download anything.

I dont have internet all the time so its a big problem for me.

Any advice? Is this happening to everyone?

thanx

For some people, who have changed consoles, or previously downloaded the optional media playback codecs, this can be a problem.  It usually can be fixed by creating a temporary Silver membership to download the update. After it is downloaded, you will be able to use the update with any profile on that console, online or offline.

My arcades are unplayable offline,  is there a trick like this for the xbla games to work offline again?

Unfortunately not.

By the sounds of things, you purchased these XBLA games on another 360. Part of the DRM of DLC and XBLA is that the software is open to all accounts on the console you purchase it on and only playable once signed into Xbox Live with that account on any other console thereafter.

Yeah my console  showed errors on the graphics then I restarted and then the lower right corner red light showed up e74

I didnt find any fixes for that error and  I had no warranty so I bought another one and lost like 12 xbla games.

I still have ms points  on live, but Im scared to lose the games again.

I had the same issue and lost DLC/games when I changed console. It's a shame there's no way to transfer content from one console to another and render it unplayable on the first....

Hi there,

When you say temporary, you mean I can delete the new profile as soon as I have downloaded the update?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, as the codec would then be forever tied to the console.

Great. Thanks a lot StrictPuppet.

I have another question while we are at it, I have tried both srt and sub files as subtitles without any luck does this mean that our beloved console doesn't support subltiles? Maybe in the next "fall update"?

Ya subs are a no-go.  This has all been added to the DivX FAQ.  Link is in my sig.
