Trouble With .pls Streaming In Xbmc
« on: January 30, 2005, 06:12:00 PM »

hi!  I did a search and checked the pinned topics, but I am still having trouble.  I saved an audio stream as a .pls file and FTPed it to my E drive.  When I open it in XBMC, it says "opening file" but then nothing happens 90% of the time.  Occasionally, I reset the xbox and try again and it connects after 5 minutes or so (the same .pls connects instantly on my desktop).  Any ideas?
thank you!!! <

First off, do you know for a fact that your xbox has access to the internet ? Does weather work? If not, then you probably aren't getting outside of your LAN.

The only other advice I can give is make sure that .m3u isnt being added to the extension by your browser or something. I've had that happen a few times and it causes them to stop working. But other than that, they work for me. Where are you getting your playlists from ? I get mine from shoutcast and they always work. <

ok, it was a little tricky but I got it.

I looked at the xbmc.log file and it said that it could resolve the hostname... so I resolved the server to it's ip, put it in place of the wtbu2.bu.edu in the playlist file, and it worked...

so in short, put this in a file: http://128.197.190.142:8000/live128

(or you can edit the m3u the site gives you) and save it something.pls . I suggest the pls extention because XBMC caches a LOT more stuff with .m3u files. The .pls files only get cached a bit and start in a few seconds. <

Well, that your weather etc work is not proof that the network is setup right.

If the DNS isn´t set right it will use the hardcoded ip´s to those sites, imdb, weather etc, but for others it wont work.

So i would go over the network once more ;) <
