I getting same error, after i format my hard drive and installing all driver's over again what come's w/ my motherboard.. nothing more!.
Framework v2.0, Xtreme Boot Maker v0.3.6 and Xtreme v3.3.. this works very well w/ this tool.Disable RAID and enable NATIVE mode.

go to start>run>cmd, type services.msc

make sur ethat wmi ( windows management instrument) service is running.

i fixed it, i had one of those "naked" versions of xp installed and alot of the services were stripped, i reinstalled a legit copy, updated bios and sata controller drivers and it worked perfectly. but like said above, it is because of the service not running that causes the error. thanks for the replies
