To Play A Game, An Update Was Needed. Where Does It Come From ?
« on: September 17, 2006, 12:30:00 PM »

Hello,

I wanted to play Table Tennis (original), and the Xbox360 did need to install an update.

However the Xbox360 did not have a network connection, and not also the wireless connection.

But when I pressed, yes, the Xbox360 was updated.
I did not have a harddisk connected, and also no memory card connected.

I have 2 questions:

1) Where does the update come from ? From the game DVD ? ?
2) Where will the update be stored ?

That is a good point I never noticed when I had my core system. Restart the console and see if it ask's again. With the premium I think we all presume it's stored on hd....but hey who knows?????.

A good one,

I turned off the consoles, inserted again original Table Tennis (PAL) DVD, but the Xbox360 did not ask to install an update anymore.

I ran initial setup again, but after that the game did not ask to run an update, in order to play the game.

So my conclusions are:

1) The update came from the DVD
2) The update was stored somewhere in the motherboard or DVD drive

But somehow, somewhere, something must be installed. What do you think ?

Obviously, the update was installed on the same chip as the operating system.

the update will have been a dash update, not a game update......
