I want to reformat my xbox hard drive.  The dvd drive in the xbox died long ago so I guess I'll have to do it in my pc.  I'll also need to make sure that some sort of dashboard with an ftp server is configured on the drive before it goes back in the xbox so I can get back into it.  Is there a way to do this?  My pc dual boots xp/linux if there are any untilities I'll need that only run on one or the other.

if your hdd is locked, nothing you can do really

you could buy a chip with an ftp server built in (xenium ice for example)
that woudl allow you do do anything you want to the drive in your xbox
