Problems With Subtitles In Mkv File
« on: January 25, 2005, 09:18:00 PM »

I hope this helps some ppl.  I couldn't get my subs to display when playing an .mkv file in XBMC.  After doing a search here I didn't find any answers (sorry if I am posting this info if somebody already has).

1.  First download mkvextractgui.
2.  After opening the program browse to the mkv file, then browse to the output directory.
3.  It should show a listing of the files.  Check the text file then select extract.
4.  Rename the file to filename.srt.  Then transfer this to your Xbox in the same folder as the mkv.

It should now work.  It wasn't hard to figure out, but hopefully I save somebody time. <

You enabled the sub from the OSD first right? <

I didn't need to enable the sub, it worked automatically.  If you go in the menu you will see the text stream, and can enable it or disable it.

FYI: I initially tried Virtuadub to Demux the subs, and it added gibberish to the subs.  I wouldn't recommend it. <
