That's just awesome! Sadly I already did that Xbox Live update...

Anyway, I'm interested in the source code, where can I find it?

I really wonder why people are alwasy so quick in updating their systems.
It really doesnt matter what it is, XBOX, PSP, etc... Its always the same.

I really want to thank all the guys who made this possible.

SNES emulator on a xbox360 this is so great.

For programming, it's recommended to use the 5 x 100Ohm resistors between the parallel port and the JTAG points on the motherboard.

Programming? Could you please elaborate? It sounds like you are saying that you cannot use a Xell 360 for testing debug apps but only release builds will work on them.

By programming, I think he means "writing to the NAND" (just how if you were to desolder a TSOP and use a programmer to read/write to it)

I have a launch xbox 360 from 2005, it is in brand new condition and not ONE update has ever been done. What can I do to keep it at its virgin level and do these hacks, I read about removing the eFuse under the board? Does this still need to be done to make sure i keep it UNUPDATED?

The latest update will prevent the XeLL exploit from running, so as long as you don't connect it to the internet for updates, you can pretty much do what you want with it.

You might want to think about a dual-NAND solution (i.e cygnos) if you want to retain 360 retail functionality.

I dont know why people believe that they must use 100 ohm resistors, but I have found that they are what causes the NAND not to be able to read and write too. I think it's best to not worry about them, and leave them off.

Almost all consoles pre 84xx should be exploitable using the new JTAG method. So basically if you didn't update this summer then you'll be able to run homebrew  smile.gif .

When you say almost all pre 83xx consoles are exploitable, what variants would prevent the few remaining from being exploited, general wear and tear, overheating etc?

you all know where this is leading to: after a year or two we can see all the apps/emulators/DASHes and opportunities that we saw on original xbox. i just mean why to hurry when there is plenty of time and i CAN promise that day will come sooner or later, if not, call me idiot or whatever you want.

You're not an idiot jessex. You're right, the day will come where we will be able to boot to a custom dash (the XBMC team announced the other day that a "private team" is already working on the 360 version) and hopefully kernel spoof to play the latest games that require it, so we retain all the functionality of our current 360's whilst adding a load of extra tit-bits.

Although this may be true for some it's not for others .. I believe that the nand and related components run at 3.3 volts and some but not **ALL** lpt ports run at 3.3 and some at 5 volts.. so you need to check your motherboard to verify exactly what is coming out and either if your at 5 volts add the resistors and if your at 3.3 or somewhere in that neighborhood leave them out.. fortunately my lpt port is at 3.3v and I had no need  for them.. nand flashes perfectly every time.

so the moral of the story is...do your homework and adjust the instructions to suit your needs.

Don't games also have dashboard updates on them so even without a internet connection he won't be able to play the latest games on his Xbox?

The answer is obvious for the Xbox 360.  You can't connect to Xbox Live without being updated to the latest dashboard.

The latest update is less than a month old, so you can't exactly expect it to instantly appear in new games, but when it does and if you update, then it will do the same thing as the downloadable update.

however, i am still 1888 not 2241, 2255, 2258, 2858, 4532, 4548, 4552, 5759, 5766, 5787, 6683, 6690, 6717, 7159, 7258, 7356, or 7357. since none of these were on any game disk i've played i assume that kernel updates are not delivered via game disk only dash updates. however this is an assumption hence me saying "i think only dash updates are on game disks".
